We had hoped that the third time for this location would be better than the last 2 attempts. Sadly not so much.
Whoever designed the location and colors of the menu board needs switch careers. You are not able to see from the serving line. Second, this could have been easily solved by angling the monitors or putting menu stands near the door. Unfortunately they only had one laminated menu for my wife and out to share once we got to the order counter.
After waiting in line for about 5 minutes, we ordered at 6:39 and our food did not arrive till 7:00 p.m. In the meantime, went to the bar where you have to order and pay for alcohol separately in hopes to get a couple of adult beverages. After waiting 10 minutes, I gave up as "manbun" bartender was more interested in chatting it up with a female bar patron than to serve us.
Once the food arrived it wasn't bad, It wasn't great, about average for a street taco truck.
I give this place 12 to 15 months at best and it will go the way of the last two attempts to run a taco joint in this location.
Go to Franklinton, get there just as quick and get served faster, cheaper with...
Read moreOkay, so we read the many positive reviews before trying this new neighborhood spot.
The food is definitely not what we hoped for which is great street tacos.
And it’s not the tried and true Mexican restaurant with endless chips and salsa.
My chorizo tacos came with a sauce on the side not mentioned on the menu. And it was far too spicy. My guest had chicken tacos that were simply unremarkable.
No one on staff made any impression at all, you order at a cluttered counter and it is kind of awkward that the line to the spot where you order brings you very close to dining tables. And 15 minutes or more later another staff person drops your meal at the table. No one ever says hello or checks back.
All that aside, the dining room was the biggest turn off and is just terrible.
Horribly loud, so much that you had to shout even at a table for two. It is a big room with high ceilings and music playing very loud.
It all feels like a touristy beach bar but with no beach in sight. We do not recommend but wish the owners the best. Maybe it is just us that missed what others rate...
Read moreGlad this place finally opened. I hope they have more luck than the 2 prior taco joints. Tikila has a nice varied menu and prices are pretty decent. Our group got the ramen, nachos, torta, kids quesadilla, a lingua taco, and a quesabirria. All were well made - the nacho platter would have been enough to share. The flavor on the ramen was excellent - not what you'd expect to get at a taco place (and obviously not the same as going to a ramen shop), but worth trying. The only two down sides I'd note is that 1) tables are right in front of the wall menus, which was fine when we were there since it was empty, but if they were busy that area could get really cramped. 2) they don't have ground beef on the menu. This is only a bummer because we had small kids with us who will eat a taco, but aren't quite adventurous enough to try other proteins in there. We just went with a cheese quesadilla instead (which was fine enough, nothing spectacular). Final note is that the kids menu is not on the wall menu, which I don't understand, but is listed by...
