Was excited about this place based on the menu and mostly great reviews. I will say that the fries are super good and were hot and cooked well. Also, my friend’s burger was pretty good! Unfortunately the two tacos I got were super gross and not edible. And the cheese sauce is beer cheese, which I didn’t know or I wouldn’t have gotten it. I don’t like beer, so definitely don’t want my cheese sauce tasting like beer. I got a Walla walla taco and a Cod taco. Everything about both of the tacos was wrong. The cod tasted super fishy and gross, and the toppings were also not good. Soooo many pickled onions and the tortilla isn’t good either. The walla walla taco meat tasted really bad and also super spicy and super chewy- not god quality meat at all. It’s not meat that should go in a taco. Nothing about either of the tacos was good, and I wasted $19 on the tacos alone. We also got milkshakes. The strawberries and cream shake tasted nothing like strawberries. It tasted strange and wasn’t good. Over $50 later, this place was just a huge disappointment overall. If you come here, maybe just stick with a burger and fries. When you are on vacation and only get to eat out a few times, it’s extra disappointing have a bad meal. EDIT: apparently there is not actually beer in the cheese. I have lowered my review to one star based on the snarky comment I received, only addressing the cheese and nothing else I talked about in the review. I wasted $50 on this place and they don’t care that the food was not up to par. That’s not a great way to run a business. The proper response to this would be to try and make things right, not just make a comment about cheese. Why does the cheese taste like beer though? How do you...
Read moreSkōSH has been on our radar for a while - we come through Waldport at least a couple times a year and have only recently discovered other lovely places to visit. Like the city, this little burger joint is a hidden gem that I want to simultaneously tell everyone and no one about. But really, y'all should definitely make this a stop. Just off of hwy 101 next to the bridge on the East side of the highway, SkōSH has a few parking spaces right off the side street on the bridge side of the building. There's some counter seating and a four top table inside, and four picnic tables on the south side of the building. If there is a line (we came for late lunch and didn't have any problems) you can go online on their order portal to peruse the menu ahead of time. We split a Mush Swiss Smash Burger, "small" sweet potato waffle fries, and a "Purple Peanut" milk shake (PB+marionberries). Everything was made to order and so tasty. Service was friendly (and generous with the fries!) and quick. The burger was abundant with cheese. The real star was the milkshake - so thick at first I could barely pull it up through the straw. We will definitely make this a stop every time we're in the area...
Read moreThe burgers here are quite good, but unfortunately, the customer service left a lot to be desired. During my visit, I witnessed a disappointing interaction between a staff member and a guest. The customer was attempting to use the self-service tablet to add double bacon to their order. Instead of assisting, the cook berated the customer, telling them to wait at the cash register and order only when they had time. The two visitors, visibly frustrated, ended up walking out.
It wasn’t just that interaction—the same staff member was also yelling at a fellow employee, creating a very unprofessional atmosphere.
When my "to-go" order was ready, the staff member placed it on the counter without calling out my name or letting me know. I noticed my name on the receipt, asked if it was mine, and was met with a dismissive attitude and a comment along the lines of, "If it's sitting up there..."
As a business owner myself, I would be furious if an employee of mine caused customers to walk out. Sadly, this experience has put me off from returning. I’ll be heading to Left Coast Burgers' food truck for my burger fix...
