I had high hopes - the reviews were mainly good, and when I stepped inside, there were a number of people picking up orders and all said the food was great. One person said he had been going there for 20 years!
I had the Moo Shu Pork. It was a good choice, solid. I next tried the Egg Roll: the shell was doughy and the inside a bland unappealing gray filling. On to the Hot & Sour Soup. It was burnt, really burnt. The flavor was very unappealing and it - literally - left a bad taste in my mouth that lasted until post-dinner when I had some ice cream to get the flavor to go away. It was also VERY thick - just this side of being Hot & Sour Jello.
My wife had Chicken Lo Mien. Bland. She thought it tested a little...unusual. I tried it but my tastes buds were compromised by the Hot & Sour Soup so of course it tasted bad to me. She said the wonton filling in her Wonton Soup was spongy.
The left over Moo Shu Pork was put in the fridge for later. Everything else got tossed.
Maybe we just hit a bad night but we're pretty leery about ordering...
Read moreWorst Chinese food experience in the Walled Lake area. Service is non existent, food is below par, and the inside is dirty. Multiple roach sightings by people I know who have eaten here, I’ve never personally seen one, but won’t be going back to check. Yummy House on Haggerty is a GREAT option if you need to satisfy your Chinese Food craving. EDIT: The service comments are being made from a past experience and food comments are from that time as well as a recent carry out order. I bring up my past experience because the food quality has not changed and I feel it necessary to express the level of service I received and the environment in which you are eating from the last time I made the mistake of dining in. Whoever responded to my review is very unprofessional and doesn’t seem to understand basic respect for their customers and their concerns. If their answer about my poor service experience and the fake 5 star review they put after doesn’t say enough about this establishment and management, then feel free to experience...
Read moreI've been coming here for 25 years and can no longer eat at this restaurant. My pictures of almond chicken and hunan chicken can be seen on the yelp reviews from 15 years ago. I don't know what happened to this restaurant, whether new employees or change of management, but everything is wrong. My brother and I had two separate orders a few minutes from each other. I ordered hunan chicken, he ordered hunan and sesame chicken. All three orders were the same type of chicken, not hunan or sesame with no spices and a dark brown/tan color. When I ordered, I also asked for lo mein and was asked, "what type of lo mein?" "Deluxe." "What kind?" "DELUXE LO MEIN" "we have pork, chicken, vegetable, shrimp, and deluxe lo mein." "Deluxe lo mein, please." Deluxe lo mein was unchanged, still yummy. Overall, night was ruined, my brother was mad at me for suggesting boon kai, never ordering here again. Other things weren't ideal, but they aren't worth talking about in depth. When one thing goes wrong, it all...
