Hard Hat Cafe II — Restaurant in Wallingford

Probably best not saying anything at all, but since I was questioned what happened.. Ordered a simple grilled chicken sandwich through DoorDash. There’s no options to customize unless I noted what I wanted. The sandwich ordered was grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato. Super straightforward and simple. I got called and they left a message because I was in the shower. I called back and was scolded/talked over by Heather that I didn’t do it right and that wasn’t on the menu, however I had literally ordered it three days earlier. So due to this, she didn’t put the order in until I called back. So order was finally placed 25 minutes later. The DoorDash driver was waiting in the store for 40 MINUTES! It was grilled chicken, lettuce, and tomato it literally takes less than 10 minutes to make that. So I felt bad for the driver who was texting back-and-forth with me, so I tipped extra too, not his fault. Finally got my grilled chicken sandwich? Nope, crispy with mayo?! Thanks Heather for talking over me the whole time smh…. Never again...

Unfortunately, on thanksgiving eve I was witness to a really unfortunate event. There was a short brunette bartender working who was refusing paying patrons water because she “wasn’t their hydration station”. As someone who works in the service industry I understand how hard it can be, but refusing WATER?!

Regardless of if you’re having a bad night this is completely unacceptable ESPECIALLY in an establishment that serves alcohol. It’s incredibly irresponsible to 1. Not serve people water because “you dont want to” and 2. To not pour water for those who are drinking and/or sober.

The young lady who this happened to had ordered alcohol. I witnessed her buy multiple shots and beers and cocktails for her table. So she was DEFINITELY a paying customer.

It was also crazy when said brunette bartender started getting patrons to chant “leave” to the girl when she brought up the complaint.

Irresponsible and disgusting behavior. I will not be supporting this business unless this...

I genuinely have nothing good to say about my experience here the other night. It wasn't busy and the service was indifferent at best - we had to flag down the server to order fresh drinks. We practically had to do jumping jacks to get them to take our food order. Then when the food came out, half the table got served while the other half (group of 4 - not a large party) waited another fifteen minutes to be served cold food that probably sat in the window the whole fifteen minutes we were waiting. They had to be asked to give us napkins, flatware, and ketchup for the fries. Nobody ever came over to ask how everything was (tasteless, greasy, and not hot). And then we had to struggle to get their attention to bring our check as well. The girls were perfectly nice when we were able to get their attention, but they clearly didn't care. It was towards the end of the night (1.5 hours before closing) so maybe it was a rough day before we got there, but I will not...
