I have to admit I was unsure how this meal would be, it can be challenging to make a really good mac and cheese, potato salad and anything with sweet potatoes.

They hit all of the spots and I will be back.

The potato salad had just the right dill and sauce. The ribs were tender and the sauce was tasty. The mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful. And I really wish I would have ordered more of the cinnamon sweet potato loaf. That was amazing!

January 2023

I ordered:

Full rack platter (meaty baby backs)

Mac and cheese (creamy and cheesy)

Potato salad (made well, not too saucy and red bliss were cooked perfectly-I did not taste Dill this time around),

Cinnamon sweet potato loaf. (Moist and not too sweet)

I added a side of Collards (finely chopped/flavored well)

and another cinnamon sweet potato loaf.

There is no salt needed to be added to any of these items. I added black pepper.

The Collards and mac n cheese container look small, however it gave ME three servings.

Their food seems to have gotten better!! It was really good before but I could taste a difference.

My total was just under $53, and that included $11 tip, $6 delivery fee and $3 tax. I was discounted 30% by GrubHub as a welcome back.

This is...

Pig Rig is a total miss for me. Immediately off-put entering the store - not with the employees, who were friendly enough, but the menu. Seems like the bare minimum to keep your website/menu updated, but prices in-store were roughly 50% higher than what their online menu shows. Whether just plain laziness or an intentional bait and switch, it shows a total lack of care by the business for the customer. It should be the bare minimum to keep that kind of thing updated. Food: Got the carolina pulled-pork sandwich combo. Food also shows a lack of care. The only saving grace of the sandwich was that it was hefty. Problem is, the floppy bun wasn't enough to handle the heft. And the coleslaw.. oof. You eat with your eyes first, and this sandwich needed an exorcism. All you can see protruding from the bun is a layer of unappetizing purple mush they called "slaw." The pork itself had little if any bark or smoky flavor, and tasted like it'd been sitting around all day. I've made better pulled pork in my crockpot. I shouldn't be able to do better in my crockpot. Sides were fine. Mac & Cheese was probably the best part of the combo; cornbread was edible, but forgettable. Won't...

BBQ in general—3.5 or 4 stars. Connecticut BBQ—4.5 stars, and I'll round up because they put a rush order on our food :) I tried brisket, pulled pork, ribs, the cowboy beans, cornbread, chili mac, and coleslaw. All were great, though the slaw and cornbread were not prepared like I expected. Meat was moist and soft and rich in flavor, all of it covered (though not drowned) in their house sauce. In this sense it is typical and regionless BBQ, which is fine considering the lack of regional BBQ variety in the northeast. All the sauces we tried made great additions, but none were must-haves. Now to the beans. These were the best BBQ-style beans I've had, including a life in Virginia and trips through Alabama and Texas. A mix of pinto and black, some unknown seasonings, and the perfect balance between al dente and chewy. Chili mac puts the emphasis on the chili and not the Mac, and it has a but if spice as advertised. I'm glad they took a stance on how to make this slaw instead of making some middle-of-the-road cole slaw. If you like pickled red cabbage, this will be for you. If not, order something else. The cornbread was sweeter and cakier than I'm used to,...

This is a great BBQ place right in Wallingford. The staff are always nice and friendly here. And since our last visit, they have expanded and now have a large dining area. This gives this place that extra touch that it needed. Now onto the food! What can I say - the make great BBQ. I've tried a variety of their meats before and they are all good. They have a nice selection of BBQ sauces that you can add to your meal, with options ranging from spicy to sweet and tangy. Their collards, Mac and cheese, and cowboy beans are excellent and never fail to please when you take them to a gathering. Yes, they cater and they are reasonably priced. On this particular chilly, Fall day I opted for their chilli and a side of corn bread. The chilli was piping hot and tasted great. I added in some spicy BBQ sauce to kick up the heat and that made it perfect. The corn bread was a tad dry (but I'm yet to have excellent corn bread anywhere). My husband got the brisket sandwich with collards and it was big! Didn't stop him from wolfing it down, so needless to say, he loved every bite. We'll definitely keep coming back here.

WOW! What a huge change in quality from my two previous visits! I had given up on Pig Rig, but was in the vicinity and decided to give them one more chance. I'm certainly glad I did! The ribs I had today had a nice smoke ring, were falling off the bone tender, had the same perfect dry rub, and just the right amount of sauce to give them flavor without overwhelming the taste of the meat, just as they had when I first ate here, two years ago. The mac and cheese was as good as always, with a nice, smokey, cheesy flavor, but wasn't soggy and overcooked as before. When I mentioned that it wasn't soggy this time, the friendly lady that took my order said they'd changed the way they make it. Perhaps they were paying attention to the critical reviews. The cornbread was as moist and full of corn flavor as always. Thanks, Pig Rig. You've regained my patronage.
