Went here for lunch and ordered a combo plate of enchilada and beef hard taco. The combo comes with rice and beans. It was good and they serve with chips and salsa. They also had the brunch buffet which looked very inviting but it was $27. They had tacos, taquitos, enchiladas, gorditas, and more and all the trimmings as well as desserts and coffee...it was a feast but I will have to try the next time. I gave the atmosphere 3 stars only because the music was too loud and it was difficult to have a conversation. I prefer music to be playing in the background softly and still be able to have a convo without shouting to be heard. Inside the restaurant was dark and not well lit with little to no natural light coming in. The buffet had areas that could have used better lighting. That said, the inside of the restaurant was nicely decorated and even had a patio area. The staff was polite, kind and friendly. Definitely would go back again. Plenty of...
Read moreGotta give it 5 stars for their "famous" Hollenbeck burrito. I used to get this before it said famous on their menu, so maybe I helped. Lol. ANYway, it is a chili Verdi style burrito with rice and beans served wet with a great green sauce and cheese covering it. The green sauce (along with their house salsa) has great flavor with what I assume is a good amount of garlic in both salsa and sauce. I hate bland salsa and theirs doesn't disappoint. I'm not a cook but it seems to me the missing ingredient is often garlic. Anyhow, they had good salsa and great sauce on the burrito. The last time I had the Hollenbeck it seemed a little, "off," today it was as great as I expected.
The only negative today was that I had to flag down the waitress after waiting for 5-10 minutes for a drink refill. I came in after the lunch buffet and she was busy breaking it down. A little annoying but not worth...
Read moreI would not recommend this place on account of the service. We were the pretty much the only ones in there. There was one other couple leaving and another that was already finished with their meals - also a man at the bar. The service was close to nill. The whole time the waiter (and I'm guessing owner) was at the bar chatting it up with the man. Chips were decent, salsa was good. We received a complimentary soup (unsure of what it was) but it was luke warm at best. Ordered the beef enchiladas with red sauce - it was way to salty. We got a free kids taquitos which was nice. Had to wait forever to get the waiters attention to get the bill and ask for a togo box. Waiter forgot the box which I didn't care because the food was aweful. But, we then had to wait forever for her to pick up the bill. Finally got tired of waiting and walked to the front to pay. Don't know how this place stays...
