Caught this store-front from the corner of my eye several weeks ago driving down Route 1. It popped into my mind today and I figured I would give it a try.
BLOWN AWAY!!
Every bite was a flavor explosion. I thought I knew what Shish Kebab was previously but maybe I was being lied to because this was different than anything I have ever had......so tasty and flavorful. Meat was succulent and juicy and on the best bed of rice you could imagine.
Not even sure what to call the "bread" they served with it....pita? I don't know....but it was the most delicious flat bread I've ever had. Magical. Two pieces of that and the incredibly fresh hummus could have made a meal in and of itself.
Like the Shish Kebab, I guess I've never had real fattoush before either......because I thought I knew what good fattoush was......until tonight. NOW I know.
These guys killed it in the service department too. I happened to pop in near closing on a Sunday night (too stressed to watch the Red Sox game) and the welcoming atmosphere was a blessing ..... big change from the typical surly service you'd get at other restaurants at the same time.
It goes without saying, but typically places with incredible food and stellar service are also spotlessly clean...but it is worth saying the Sticks & Stones is one of the cleanest and best kept restaurants that I can recall. I have been in the restaurant business for 30 years and notice minutiae that most other people don't see or don't care about, but it makes me feel great when I see a restaurant firing on all cylinders with cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.
I haven't even talked about the value yet and the portion sizes. I could have led with that. I don't what is best here? Food. Service. Value, Cleanliness. Whichever is important to you..... Sticks and Stones will deliver. I am usually happy if I can find a place that hits the mark with 2 or 3 of these criteria....but all 4? AMAZING.
RUN. Don't walk here. If not, you are missing out.
I will be back next week and can't wait to try more of their food.
Update Don't sleep on the meat pie. My new...
Read moreWe have had food delivered from this place and it was always incredible, perfectly presented even in take out containers, would make friends say "where did this come from!?", but 2 nights ago I went to pick up our food. Walking in, I just wanted to sit and experience the heavenly aromas of their food. Smoky pizza oven, herbs, savories, maybe sumac?, You need to experience this. Just take a little time to enjoy something intensely good, an experience on its own. Then get some food to eat!! Perfect for vegan and vegetarian family members. Each dish is enough for dinner and then lunch. The potatoes! You know it's good when my my husband says, "we should eat this food a lot".
Made a note to add another review, some years later. We had food delivered last night. This is wholesome food. Everything tasty. The falafel is unique, far from bland, seasoned and an entree on its own for vegetarians. The salads, what a treat! Crispy fried pita bits, mixed greens and a dressing with fresh mint. I would go back just to have a salad. Love love...
Read moreWow. What a hidden gem! We were skeptical becuase it seems like a weird name and it’s a very nondescript place. But wow. Everything is a flavor bomb of deliciousness! The meat is tender and juicy. The pizza crust is pillowy and fresh. The hummus has a delicious tang. And wow. The Tablieh #2 is a fantastic deal with a little bit of everything. We got adventurous this time and got the Makanek (these little tiny lamb sausages) Lordy so so good. The burgul is delicious. The rice has a perfect texture. And the conscientious way the pack your take out is really the extra touch. Attention to detail and no cutting corners. A really fantastic place! This place is amazing. Go. Eat. It’s worth the price.
It’s the third time we order take out and I couldn’t get pictures fast enough - my family couldn’t wait to dive in! But wanted to give you some idea of what the food looks like. Sooooo good. So worth every penny. Don’t be fooled by the modest surroundings. This place is...
