We were traveling on the road from South Carolina to Florida we picked this restaurant cause of the good reviews and the long time the restaurant has been in operation. Upon entering there wasn't a host or any one to seat you. We stood by the sign that said wait to be seated. Several members of the staff walked past not saying a word all the employees had light blue polo shirts. It was the day after Christmas and lunch time I understand people don't want to work on holidays but sad to say seemed like everyone working were all in bad moods unless this is how they do business we will definitely not stop there ever again. The only young lady working waved at us to walk over to her and pointed to a booth my wife asked her for a high chair for our 3 year old grandson. I went to the restroom came back she was still waiting for the chair. We should have left then . Our server came said are you ready to order we asked for a few minutes he just walked away came back 10 minutes later said "you ready now" we asked for children's special of chicken stripes and fries, I asked if the chicken soup had a cup or only one size . Server said soups come in bowls ordered it and asked if the carne Asada came with rice i was told only salad i asked for a side of rice . My wife asked for street tacos 3 of them . The soup came out first a huge bowl that had chunks of avocado in it served really hot very tasty would have been enough. Next came the baby's food over cooked chicken and fries that looked like they cooked them then put back in oil to heat them . My steak came lukewarm not much flavor the tacos not much better just as cold . At that point I said let's go across the street and get the baby fries and chicken nuggets from McDonald's a better choice across the street. Dont let the pictures fool you food wasn't good. The only good thing was the soup service was awful long wait for food . The bathroom was terrible 2 urinals one didn't work but people kept using it should have been covered. Enough said you can see my other reviews and see I'm not just blasting this place . I just tell it how I see it and...

HORRIBLE! I would not recommend this restaurant for anyone! I went for the first time and upon entrance I was not greeted although there were 4 people standing up front, and even after speaking. The biggest issue came when my 17 year old cousin did not like her food (birria tacos). She ate two bites from 1 of her 3 tacos and ate nothing else. After letting the server know that she didn’t like it and I wanted it to be taken off since she really didn’t eat it she told me I had to speak with the manager about the issue and how another table ordered it and liked it and attempted to take the plate off the table. Once the manager came out he didn’t want to speak to me, the adult, he began grilling the 17 year old. After explaining that she did not like the food because it didn’t really have a taste he told her that he tasted it and he liked it (as if tastebuds are not subject) and that next time she is going to have to pay regardless of if she liked it or not. Very unprofessional. After the bill was brought out and the tacos were taken off but there was 18% gratuity added to the bill. There was only 3 individuals. When I went to pay I asked if gratuity is added to every check I was told “I’m not sure, you have to ask the manager”. My experience was terrible and I will not be returning to this establishment. The manager is rude and unprofessional and the staff are very...

Was going out to lunch with coworker and I noticed this restaurant was not a chain (i think). The atmosphere was very relaxing and inviting - wasnt a lunch rush, but the decor and background music was relaxing and set a nice tone. Service was relatively quick although we chatted up a while before ordering. Chips and salsa on house and drinks were taken care of as soon as we sat down. I have a special review of the food, and maybe it is because I have not had fresh mexican in a while, but my goodness! - I am planning on bringing a group of my coworkers there so we can all enjoy the food it was so great! One thing I must note was the English of our waiter was not perfect and I felt as if he could not 'click' with us as our go-to person for more chips or a refill (which he did provide). However, there is an aspect to the service side of being a waiter and that is making sure your tables are happy and asking questions about their experience to see if it can be improved. What did bother me the most is that the waiter [in a way] ignored me and possibly thought I was too young to address and ask whether my meal was ok, although he clearly addressed my coworker who was much older than I. I find that behavior disrespectful and was the only 0.49 stars I would remove from this rating - which still rounds it up to five! ...

Tried to go to other Mexican place, but it was closed. Came here anyway despite bad reviews. "The food looked overcooked, and looked better on the menu." And that was coming from my 7 year old. I agreed. Their idea of orange juice is actually just powdered 'tang.' nothing wrong with that, but it's not orange juice, lol. Service was understaffed. Our server was Juan, he was not very pleasant, was in rush and was slow. I asked for something on the menu, he said it came with my meal, and it did not. It was actually another server that had to ring us up as we waiting 10 minutes for our check. The mens bathroom toilet was locked from the inside, but no one was in there. The atmosphere was actually kind of nice. Felt like another of one of our favorite restaurants... somewhat cozy/commerical... pretend authentic mexican.... Too bad the food and staff ruined the experience. Would not come here again.

This Mexican restaurant is a great find in the small town of Walterboro. The menu offers a more than ample variety of selections in an ambiance that is well-maintained and appropriately decorated. This seems to be a very popular eating spot for the locals is understandably so. Service was mostly prompt, and the food was delivered after a short wait, accompanied by the ubiquitous phrase, "Hot plate!" My meal was well prepared with good spice and not drowned in queso - a condition one finds in other similar establishments. The salsa provided with the complimentary tortilla chips was thick without being chunky and should please even the most sensitive palate. I consider this an excellent local place for lunch or dinner. Many items to choose from, which should be equal in quality to my lunch today.

Ate here while traveling on I-95. Windows were filthy and there was a dead bug on window sill adjacent to our booth. There was an A grade on door and it was crowded, so we went ahead and ate so we could get back on the road. Took our leftovers for lunch at hotel next day and ordered and extra side of queso to go with it. When we got the food out the next day, there was a dead roach. Called and they apologized and said they would refund. They didn't seem surprised at all. So, we searched for their health department reports. Low and behold, roaches and other insects had been a consistent problem. Look them up on SC Food Grades website. Search "El Pueblo." Their most recent report was good, but don't let that fool you. Read through all their reports. Several, repeated violations, including roaches.
