We love great food and we wanted to try a new restaurant out so we chose Garcia's in Walterboro. Even though the shopping center it is located in is rather run down, we were quite surprised how nice and clean the restaurant was. Unfortunately that is where the good ends. Once seated it took 10 minutes to have someone come to our table. The chips and salsa were very good. But when they brought our food I stopped enjoying myself. I spent months in Mexico and I know what a Chile Releno is and believe me what I got served. I could only manage to get about two bites in and stopped. I did eat the salad and taco tho. My father and I stopped in for lunch the other day. Very friendly staff 😊. Treated with chips and salsa as we looked over the menu. Was kinda hard to order because everything on the menu looked so appetizing. I will agree with a lot of the other reviews and say the staff was a bit slow but the friendliness and food sure did make up for it. When I asked for some jalapeños the waiter asked. “Would u like pickled or fresh?” There is an authentic Mexican food store 3 buildings down and I would say both are the same. The Cool Cucumber margarita was delicious. The guacamole salad was very good; simple. The Spanish rice was lukewarm but good. Needed salt, pepper, onions. Much better afterwards. Chips n salsa good.

The rib eye steak wasn't ribeye so far as i could tell. It’s “grilling” conveyed neither flavor nor grill texture. The weak link of the meal. Plus it swam in Ranchero sauce.

Recommend U get any sauce on the side. I was told u have to ask to have ur steak heavily grilled/burnt, if u desire any semblance of grilling.

Oddly, one waiter spoke Spanish to me repeatedly, testing me apparently. A little high school Spanish came back, enuf to satisfy... Weird tho’. And a first.
