Tong's — Restaurant in Walters

This is my favorite Chinese buffet. Im not much for Chinese food but the stuff I do like is made best here at Tongs! And the stuff I do like here I absolutely love. If im home I will eat here all 4 days they are open. I originally posted just a 5 star review 2 years ago, its now March 2020 and I thought i'd add my own two cents. To anyone that doesn't know, this place is purely family run. Its literally that mom and pop shop. Those 2 run everything and their son and daughter help out when not in school. I am concerned about how much longer this place will be open due to the building needing repairs. The roof leaks and I've heard her talk about the repair costs and its quite high. Me and my daughter travel south to Dallas to north Tulsa for Chinese and everywhere in between and this is the best sesame chicken we’ve found for 10 years or more. We live an hour away but my mom is only about 15 minutes away. So we come here at least once a month or more. It’s amazing aside from the chicken teriyaki. I always go for dinner right as they open and only once in the 10 times or so has the teriyaki chicken been fresh. The other times it has been old and hard. When it’s fresh, it’s great. Full disclosure, I haven’t eaten here in almost 14 years. But I think about this restaurant a lot. I was a college student living in Walters and going to school at MSU. I may very well have been one of the few other Asian people in town at the time. The family at Tongs was always so kind to me. Genuinely good people who deserves way more than they receive, and yet manage to do a whole lot with what they have. Kinda like the town of Walters itself.
