Tessie's Bar & Kitchen Waltham — Restaurant in Waltham

This was my second visit to this restaurant, the first being just after they opened post-pandemic. The food was high quality and the service was upbeat and consistent.

It was interesting, there was one server who took my order and a different server brought me the food and checked in afterwards. Someone that I used to know from visits in the past to a former establishment in Allston was working at Tessie's and recognized me from the past and I appreciated that.

I ordered a virgin bloody mary and a ginger beer however the ginger beer tasted watered down, but it could have been due to excessive ice in the cup. The first server listened to my dietary restriction request, however didn't offer to alter ingredients or recommend a custom entree for my needs.

The pretzel was huge and in my opinion had a little bit too much salt. The beer cheese that came with the pretzel was okay but the other dipping sauce did not taste like (honey) mustard as on the menu. The homemade veggie burger with lettuce instead of a bun hit the spot, and the fries were crisp and seasoned just right.

There was live guitar music at the time I visited and it sounded upbeat. The paper towels were out and there was a lot of wetness underneath the urinal in the men's room but that is on par with expectations for such an establishment on a weekend night. I'd be happy to try...

Tessie’s is an awesome place! Beautiful atmosphere, and friendly and fast service. However, the star of the show was the food. The portions were huge, with a lot of fresh ingredients and variety on the menu. The cauliflower buffalo bites were spicy and tender. The tater tots were incredibly crispy and cheesy. The Cobb salad was light and refreshing. The corn chowder was fabulous, warm with a great consistency and lots of vegetables. The pretzels were well salted and airy. Finally, the chicken sandwich had juicy and crisp meat and came with lots of toppings. I was disappointed. I got the tessie burger, ordered medium with the garlic tots added. The burger came out well done, but it was cold and the bun was wet. Unfortunately the tots were also not edible. I will say maybe this was my fault I may not have fully read the description but the garlic on the tots was raw minced garlic. Now I love garlic, but it was about 6 cloves of raw garlic, it was not an enjoyable experience.
