I grew up in Trumbull County and I never got to go here. This place was the bees knees. I got to go for the first. Let me tell you walking in was amazing to see. Just an amazing atmosphere. There wasn't a hostess so we had to wait. Prime rib was the special for the night. That was what I got. It was pretty tough and you can tell the sauce came from a power. The mash potato side was small and the dinner as well as the dinner salad. All was very flavorful.
My server was not the nicest person. Very smug and acted as if she felt she wasn't going to get a "decent" tip from us. My one friend ordered a drink frost thing it is came as our dinner came. It took a while. When everyone asked what we wanted to drink. One ordered a soda and the rest said just water for now opting to keep the drink menu. Meaning we were going to get a drink. However since we only had one menu from the group. We all wanted to look. One person was able to get a drink. Which came to about the end of the dinner. Needless to say she never came or had intentions to ask if anyone else wanted drinks.
With any new restaurant I go to I like to order either a dessert or an appetizer. There wasn't much that I cared for in the appetizer list, since I don't eat much seafood. So I definitely wanted to order a dessert however our server decided that she would dictate to us when we should have our bill and that diner was over. I know it might sound like we ran her. However we ordered the first drink when she first came, dinners, we ordered the second drink when she brought the food and then we got the check.
If you have great service it makes everything else better. The manger did pop over. That was a nice touch to check in.
It's still a beautiful place and it has a good and different selection than any other place. Worth a try if you...
Read moreHaving traveled all over the world, I am often in places where I have never been. I have learned to explore and discover great restaurants, wine bars, attractions, and other adventures.
I discovered a wonderful place that ended up being way beyond my expectations. Cafe 422 in Warren, Ohio. It has been a culinary fixture in this part of the world for 85 years. That is pretty impressive.
My servers at the bar, Michelle, and Lisa, tag teamed me and left me wanting for nothing. They were attentive, professional, and very engaging. Their service only enhanced my experience, and I am planning to go back tomorrow and a few more times this week. Yes, it was that good.
I started my Thanksgiving dinner with a glass of Ruffino Prosecco. To me, bubbly, serves any occasion. They offered a three course menu with many options. I chose the Braised Lamb Shank with Mushroom Risotto, Green Beans, Au Jus. Served with a salad. Paired with wonderful Alpha Zeta Amarone della Valpolicella.
For dessert I had a coconut cream pie, which was over-the-top delicious. paired with a snifter of Grand Marnier. I love that Lisa presented it in a snifter, the only way it should be offered.
If you are traveling to the Youngstown/Niles Ohio area, I would highly recommend this restaurant. They are open for both lunch and dinner, and have many different options to satisfy any pallet. Their bar is well stocked with great selections of beer, wine and spirits. The atmosphere is warm and inviting that sure please every guest. Check it out. I hope to...
Read moreWe booked a mercy dinner and although the food was acceptable, there were several issues. We asked for tables of six, there were eight chairs at each table. There was supposed to be bread on the table with the hot peppers, at the beginning, and it took over 20 minutes to get it, after seating. The salads took another 30 minutes. When the food was brought out all the guests who ordered baked potatoes didn't get them until 20 minutes after their steak. The only excuse offered for this , by a server was " that's why we limit your choices ". Then we were told they ran out..ran out of potatoes at 1pm in the afternoon? You see I asked for baked potatoes as a side choice for the entrees, and they knew that..the lack of preparation for that choice was inexcusable. The food overall was acceptable. And therefore the 3 star rating. The service was extremely undesirable . This was the dinner for my step son..gone to soon..we didn't question prices. We didn't even argue the tip they didn't deserve. The manager was nowhere to be found after the initial encounter. We picked this restaurant for its supposed excellent reputation in Niles. My advice is to avoid them stringently for events of any kind, unless of course you don't like the person the party is for. The entire meal was embarrassing and uncalled for. If not for the food, the rating would have...
