I was hesitant and putting this comment up as I've been going the hot dog shoppe for over 30 years. But I'm ready disgusted especially with their management specifically the manager in charge last Sunday May 25th his name is Larry. We had a 35 hot dog order it was screwed up. Will always get the regular sauce and onion and we had 14 of them, only to realize after driving 25 minutes to get home to a birthday party that they were plain dogs. They messed up the order, my father-in-law's favorite! That's all I wanted for his 94th birthday. But he didn't get it. I called to complain. They headed the phone over to Larry the supposed manager in charge. I know this seems kind of ridiculous but Larry fumbled around asking specifics about who ordered it when we ordered it what was the ticket number etc etc. Somebody needs to send him to a customer service and customer satisfaction school. He should just said I'm sorry for screwing up your order and I'll credit your account. But no, Larry said he's going to dig into it give me a call in 30 minutes, that was Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. 4 hours later I called and Larry's gone but I did talk to the manager then on duty. He said he's going to pass it on to Larry Larry called me back the next day which was May 27th. But it figures no phone call nothing from Larry. Now it's been 5 days! I don't understand the hot dog shoppe never ever operated this way. And even after talking to two managers they don't know how to handle such a simple simple situation. All they do is just upset the customers more. If I would have gave no stars I would have. I just don't appreciate management making commitments, not taking any responsibility, not accountable, and not especially this case doing the right thing. It's just actually shameful. I calked and asked for the owner to call me and I'm still waiting for that phone call too. I even sent a big long email, with no response. So I've had it! That's why I'm posted this. I guess I'm going to have to find another place and more to get my hot dogs cuz it sure is not going to be the hot dog...
Read moreEver since the new owners took over the restaurants, the quality of product has gone down hill. Just today, the hot dogs were cold, the fries were hot, but not cooked all the way, the buns were stale, milkshake was more like chocolate milk than a shake. This is not just a one time thing. This has been ever since the new ownership. It kills me that this has been the case for myself and family. I grew up going there. I remember the fire that closed it for months in the 90s. The servers are not pleasant any more. Even when someone is nice to them it is met with an attitude and irritation. Again something that has been going on for a while now.
I don't normally write companies about this stuff. However, being that The Hot dog shop is a classic for Warren, and is known nationwide, I can't sit back and watch this deteriorate in front of me.
I feel shame for the previous owners, for the brand. It has now become about the money and to franchise it out throughout the state. Before the inflation happened due to covid, the new ownership raised the prices and care more about revenue then serving the community.
It needs to get back into its roots and have pride in that.
Sincerely, A mournful customer of the ORIGINAL
Edit- After reading the other reviews, I have noticed that other customers are saying the same thing I am. And all the new owners say is "I'm sorry, we don't aim for that" or something along those lines. The worst part is that's all the new owners are saying. Because if they said that 10 months ago, even a year ago, why is it still the same?! If the owners aren't going to do anything about it, then they need to look in the mirror and see for themselves it's them not just the workers. The workers are following the lead of their bosses. I can't fathom how an owner will allow this to happen to something they have put...
Read moreWe came here to try & enjoy a few hot dogs & fries, and the hot dogs were so bad, we couldn't eat them. We ordered 4 hot dogs with sauce, onions & cheese to go. When we got in our car we opened the container & were shocked to see what they gave us. First, there was No Sauce on the dog, somebody took a teaspoon put a little sauce on it & spread it across 4 hot dogs, then so we wouldn't see how little of sauce there was, they threw a million onions to cover their cheapness, then the yellow stuff they call cheese, was so watery that the hot dogs were wet, the buns were soaked & the dogs were raw, they might have been on the grill, but that doesn't mean they're cooked inside. We were appalled at this, we'll never go back, we should have went to Jib Jab in Girard, much better than the Hot Dog Shoppe in Warren . They should just close the doors, nobody was in there anyways. And just to let everyone know, they're Chili has no meat in it, its just a bowl of sauce & beans. How sad that a once Super Establishment of great hot dogs has gone down hill from being cheap. Most of Warren, Ohio's Restaurants have all done the same, they cheapened their food & doubled their prices, After years of keeping these Restaurants alive & open & spending our money with all of them, they all turned out to be big disappointments. Hard to believe they treated good customers like this. We're done with Warren's Restaurants, so many other good places to eat, They can keep their high prices & cheap food. This is just so unfair to...
