I made it a point to take 24 hours to leave this review so that I wouldn't say things I didn't mean because I was posting in anger.
After my family and I have been eating at this restaurant for decades, we're done and will not ever be returning to this restaurant.
Yesterday afternoon (1.20.2024), on top of all 3 water glasses that were brought to our table being absolutely filthy, and all 3 still having lip marks on them from the people who previously used them (we were waiting to send them back but weren't there long enough for that to happen), the awful treatment we saw from a Ruby's waitress to an elderly customer who was obviously suffering from dementia/alzheimers, was more than we could stand. We grabbed our coats and helped this elderly lady into her daughter's car, which was already waiting outside, and we will never return.
This waitress, who's a bit later in her years as well, and one who is unfortunately typically rude (we still dined there due to good food, we just always cringed when we ended up with this waitress), was verbally abusive to this elderly lady, was shaking her pointed finger just a couple inches from the lady's face, and telling her to never come back. All because the customer was telling the waitress that she never brought her the tea she asked for, and because she couldn't figure out where to sign her receipt. We were on the complete other side of the dining room and could easily hear and see the whole interaction.
This was a shameful display for any business, but one that was especially upsetting because it was so blatantly obvious that this elderly customer needed special care and attention, not the complete opposite, and not from someone who comes from a culture where the elderly are typically so loved, respected,...
Read moreI normally don’t write reviews. This is my second or third one but I felt this needed to be said. If you make a mistake, do not make the customer feel like it was their fault!! I ordered the egg foo yong dinner with gravy on the side. The woman on the phone was rushing me so bad she must not have heard me say dinner. Every time I call here they rush you off the phone and make mistakes. That is why, when I picked up my order I asked if everything was there and was told yes. After my 20 minute drive home I found I only received 1 egg foo yong patty, no rice, no egg roll. I called to let them know and they argued with me. Normally I won’t go back but I went there to get the rest of my food and was told I needed to pay extra to get the combo. I am not by any means above paying for what I ordered. I assumed when you charged me, you knew what my order was for considering I said it on the phone and again at the register. When I tried to explain what happened, the gentleman at the register argued then cut me off in the middle of my sentence to assist the next customer. How is it my fault you rushed on the phone and make a mistake?? Did I receive an apology? No. Did he offer to remake the egg foo yong? No. So now I’m sitting here eating cold dinner by myself because my family ate while I had to go back and get the rest of my food. As a customer service rep, this is appalling. This is not how you keep customers. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere...
Read moreI used to love this place, but I definitely have had better Chinese food else where recently. I don't know what happened but their dinner rolls have been dry and bland the last few times. Then the fried wonton noodles were just full of oil, usually I like to crunch them up in my wonton soup but this time it left my hands a mess. The rest of the food was alright though, but again I have had better.
Also they have recently instituted a no free refills policy (new to us, we haven't been there in a few months prior to this visit) but nothing was said until we asked the second time.
The waitress we had also seemed very rushed and really didn't want wait for us to tell her our order. My friend ordered a dish with lobster (don't know the exact name) but wanted fried rice instead of white rice, she said that it was the same as a combo 11 so he accepted the combo 11. After she left my other friend pointed out that the combo 11 had shrimp and no lobster, so when she came back we had her correct the order and he just got it without fried rice since that seemed to be the issue with her.
Just a lot of little stuff that added up to a less than mediocre experience.
I gave it 3 stars because overall that's what I'd rate the food, but...
