At the recommendation of a friend, I went to the Jamison Pour House for the first time in about five years. The only reason for the large gap in between visits was caused by moving away from the area. Anyway, my recent trip triggered a reminder to review this place.
The service was solid, casual and periodic small talk at the bar, and the menu left me torn between several items. Ultimately, I tweaked a standard "chicken cheesesteak" with provolone cheese and regular fries by adding BBQ sauce to the "cheesesteak" and subbing in sweet potato fries. It's not in error that I put the word cheesesteak in quotation marks, because it was more of a chopped up chicken breast rather than traditional cheesesteak meat. That is not at all a negative note, but more of a very pleasant surprise. Their version of a cheesesteak, served on a soft Amoroso-like roll (if not an Amoroso), and exceeded a craving for what I was originally expecting until I set eyes on what was served.
I'm thinking that this experience might warrant multiple returns to Jamison Pour House. A...
Read moreA culinary abortion... if I could leave less stars I would... there is NOTHING that is made in house. everything comes frozen (fish, shrimp, fries,wings,ect...) I actually saw the pre-packaged salad dressing in gallon containers. Rotten spring mix and spinach in the salad , the romaine was gritty with dirt and brown on the edges and ribs. Their chicken breast is grill marked from some factory, frozen, then I'm guessing "cooked to perfection" in a microwave.... Chili and soups were salty and thick like cement... they were inedible, probably from sitting in pot all day and reducing....bread on the sandwiches was stale... fries were soggy and limp... I would have to think extremely hard to think of a worse place to eat. You would be better of ordering a pizza and having it delivered, or making a quick run up to the McDonald's around the corner.
ignore their 5 star reviews, they are obviously from employees or management...
Read moreThis little gem is hidden in plain sight on southbound York Road near Almshouse Road. Inside the atmosphere is clean, casual and comfortable with high and low top tables as well as generous bar seating available. Covered outdoor seating is also an option but not chosen on this 97° day. Their emphasis is on friendly service and good quality made-from-scratch food. They hit the mark on both. We settled in with drinks and an order of cheese curds, followed by a delicious turkey croissant with cranberry mayo, and a perfectly prepared smashburger. Both came with the tastiest homemade fries - the ideal cross between a good steak fry and potato skins, without the hassle of skins! We will definitely be back to try the yummy looking cheesesteaks and fish & chips that were served to neighboring tables; perhaps during their 4-6 happy hour or advertised live music on...
