This restaurant is becoming a real disappointment. This has always been one of my favorite places to eat where you could get a good meal at a fair price and pleasant wait staff. However, they just revamped their menus and, sadly, their portion sizes along with it (again). They have shrunken their portions so much over the past year and a half that their dinner plates are now the exact same plate they use for their shrunken house salad. (yes, we were there for dinner, not lunch). They no longer sell the 6 oz steak, but have replaced it with a 5 oz steak for the same price. I ordered the 5 oz steak (medium well--just a little pink inside) with grilled shrimp and string beans. I received a "medium" cooked steak instead (red but not bleeding, thank goodness - I've had them bring me a bleeding steak on occasion). My plate included 4 very sad looking shrimp, and exactly (I kid you not) 8 string beans (I actually counted them) for the "bargain" (cough) price of $14.99 The little house salad came with my meal so I guess that was the bargain?!?. Even the little dish that holds the dipping sauce had barely a tablespoon of sauce in it. I am by no means a big eater, but as I stared down at my plate I actually felt insulted. My friend ordered the half rack of ribs that she has ordered many times before and you could clearly see they had cut the portion size on that also, which, I guess, was to help the ribs fit on that tiny little plate along side the new smaller portion of Aussie fries. Her side salad was an additional $3 which is adding insult to portion reduction. We each ordered a coffee and one slice of cheese cake to share. Even the cheese cake portion was almost half the size it used to be. It goes without saying, there were no leftovers to take home. With two drinks each, our bill came to $80. Amazing price for less food than one would get off a luncheon menu most anywhere. I really am not a big eater, but it was the first time I have ever come home from Outback still hungry. Since we've been going there no less than once a month for the past 2 years we have watched as the owner slowly cut portion sizes. But this new cut made it very obvious that the owner had put some real thought and effort into cleverly (or not so cleverly) raising prices, cutting portions and shrinking plate sizes once again. I can't imagine what he's going to do in the future to cut back... possibly just serve his new bar food listed on his menu. Do we really need another TGIF joint in the area? I agree that some restaurants' portions are way too large and people tend to over eat, but what Outback in Jamison is doing is borderline ridiculous and quite frankly, insulting to their diners... especially for the increased prices. When I think of the place now, all that comes to mind is "The Incredible Shrinking Plate". Hope the owner stays on top of his cooks since they are having trouble grilling a steak as ordered. If he doesn't, and the quality of his food falls short, his clientele just might get fed up pretty quick and go somewhere else. Check out the place for yourselves and you decide if what you get is...
Read moreAside from Outback Steakhouse being just another glorified fast food franchise, they have reinvented a way to pack more people into their restaurants than a mid size SUV in southern California. I'm talking sardines in a can as far as the Jamison, PA location is concerned. My Fiancee and I walked in at just the right time, after their new "lunch rush" ended and just before the "dinner rush" began. We were seated promptly by the courteous staff at the front door, but that is where the "little extra" ended. (bonus points for you if you got the "Waiting" movie reference) after about 10 minutes, the manager told us our waiter was waiting on a "large" party (there were 6 people in it, not even enough for the automatic 18% gratuity) and that she was going to get our drinks until he could see us. Drinks, check. Our waiter came over to take our appetizer orders, and after that, he went AWOL. A total of 25 minutes until we got our appetizers, from butt in seat, to wings to eat, might I add that the wings had decent seasoning, but were, for lack of a better term, shoe soles on bones. Rubbery all the way through. After that, our waiter brought out our entrees. Now, I'm a burger man, when I say that I mean I really like burgers, go to Vegas and eat the Triple Bypass at the Heart Attack Grill, containing over 6,000 calories, for lunch. This was hardly Burger King worthy, small patties, rubber bacon, and when I order something "well done" I think that's universal for "no pink" Maybe down under that's not the case as my burger was pink through and through. My Fiancee's steak she ordered, seeing as were at a steakhouse this should be their pride and joy, she ordered medium, and I heard it mooo-ing all the way to our table. there have been murder scenes with less blood than her plate had. Everything about this place just screams horrible experience, and the only reason we went is because we had $75 in gift cards. Which by the way, we had contemplated leaving one as a tip for our waiter. (The bill was $51 and change, and we were ready to ditch the left over $23) But we noticed that the cards are good at Carrabba's as well. Maybe next time we will go to Carrabba's instead, Outback, specifically this Outback, needs to change their name, I suggest they change it to,...
Read moreI donât even know where to start. This outback is one of the finest establishments on the east coast. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with kindness from the hostess staff. Go Birds. There was this incredible energy that filled me as I walked to my table. I almost turned around and left as a thought crossed my mind, telling me I wasnât worthy to be eating at this heavenly place. I ignored the thought and took my seat. Go Birds. I wasnât even settled in the seat completely as our waiter immediately came to our table with water. Again, these people are simply amazing. As I was gazing over the menu, I knew I wasnât going to be able to decide what I wanted. So I ask the waiter what I should get. He asked me âhow hungry are you?â I said âdamn hungryâ. He recommended the grilled cheese. I got the grilled cheese. I also ordered a side order of caesar salad. Go Birds. And boy oh boy, was this the best grilled cheese I have ever had. The crunch, the cheesey gooiness, the ketchup i dipped it in, itâs like God himself crafted this sandwich. I high fived the family sitting next to us. We actually became friends and scheduled a day in the near future to return to this Outback to eat with them. Go Birds. This team is the most dominant team, most poised team, most fun team, I have ever been around. And I am not just talking about this lovely staff at Outback Steakhouse in Jamison, Pennsylvania. I am also talking about the 2024-2025 PHILADELPHIA EAGLES. SUPER BOWL CHAMPS!!!!!! CAN YOU TAKE ME HIIIGHHHEERRR!! TO A PLACE WHERE BLIND MEN SEE!! I LOVE...
