Multi part review - I've been eating here for a while, and finally am taking the time to write a review.
First off, sliders are good. Not the best that I've had, but they are definitely very tasty. The meat is always cooked to perfection, and their sauce that they put on it, is very tasty. It is a very good compliment to the taste of the burgers. The bread pairs well with the burgers, as well. For being sliders, the three you get in a normal order, is quite filling.
Chicken tenders, or as they refer to them, the "Tri-5". Really good. My favorite thing about this place. Something about them, makes them seem almost addictive.... most of the time. Been a few times that I've ordered, that they were a little over cooked, but that happens. I've ordered enough of them to know that it is a once in a while thing. They also lightly dust them with their seasoning, which I think is what is making them taste so good, without the need for sauce. Some people may like the sauces, but to me, if a tender needs sauce, it's not cooked right. It masks the flavor of the chicken and the breading.
Now for the bads.....
The milkshakes. I've ordered them a few times, and each time, I've just felt, underwhelmed. The flavor profiles all seem so good, so tantalizing. They tempt you in to ordering them, because you think and hope they will satisfy your innermost cravings for the not so common combinations that they are offering. But, at least in the few times that I've ordered them, they have not reached my expectations. For example, the orange creamsicle shake, tasted like a vanilla shake that was placed in a room of oranges. You could "almost" taste the orange, it was an afterthought in the flavor profile, or an aftertaste. It wasn't an in your face orange. Same went for the birthday cake shake. I could almost taste the cake batter in it, but, it was just so faint, that I felt like that the shake was placed next to a cake, and the cake radiated some of it's cakey goodness to the shake, but then was pulled away just as the flavor began to infuse.
I thought to myself, these are the la vie of milkshakes. Almost have the flavor, but not quite.
Now on to the fries. I love me a good batch of french fries. I wanted to love them from here, as it is their namesake. But, I just couldn't. They aren't bad, they are just, meh.
Now to give some backing to my meh.
First time I got them, they were fresh fresh, just out of the fryer, just dusted with the seasoning. They had just the right amount of soggyness to firmness that you want (at least, I want) from a french fry. However, they cooled off fairly quickly, and by the time they had cooled to car temperature, they were just a soggy mess. The seasoning had been saturated away, and you couldn't taste it anymore.
But, I gave the fries a few more tries. The second time, they came to me already kind of past that just out of the fryer goodness, so they had already lost the flavoring of the seasoning, and were well on their way to the soggy mess. Thankfully this time, I had only ordered a small order, so I didn't have to worry too much about wasting food.
My last time, was similar to the second time, but they were just a soggy lump at the bottom of the bag. Tried one, and didn't even bother with the rest.
So, in summary on the fries. If you get them fresh, still piping hot, they are great. Not the best, but high up there. Eat them fast, as they will go south quickly (in my opinion, anyways). Maybe if they are ordered doctored up, like with the wiener fixings, they can regain some credibility, but I like my fries to be plain and simple. Nothing fancy, just some salt and pepper.
All in all, I will continue to go to this establishment, and enjoy the chicken tenders and the sliders. Both of those are great, and worth the 15 minute drive each way for me. I order online so that when I arrive, the food is just about done, or already finished, so I can grab my food and enjoy on...
Read moreThis was our first and last experience. Recently underwent surgery and have been unable to drive. This was an option through GrubHub, so we decided to try it. Delivery was very quick and efficient however the food was awful! I called and spoke to the manager on duty was who very nice and helped as much as he was able. He assured me that the manager would be in contact with me - which never happened. (If I had been given the courtesy of a call and he actually cared about the quality of the food that was being served when he was not present, I would not have written this review) We ordered a rare Burger which was three tiny hockey puck discs, not a "burger" and not even close to the specified temp. (Ordered rare because it would reach a bit of a higher temp during transit) It was described to have lettuce and their sauce on it. There was one paper thin transparent piece of lettuce, no sauce it was dry, it was awful. The chili was absolutely disgusting. It was a small styrofoam cup of goop. There was no meat in it there were no beans in it, it literally was a thick red glob of a "gel' like substance with sour cream on top. Their famous fries were the final disappointment. We ordered a large which advertised a pound of fries. We received a small order of tasteless, soggy fries. If I was able to get there, I would have brought the food back to them. I was not given the option of having my order recooked correctly or offered a refund. Very disappointing! I had noticed that the more recent reviews were bad and I should have never ordered. I would...

Got the basic smash burger with axelrod sauce. It was wicked good. We also ordered the fries with cheddar, sour cream ,& bacon. Also good. We were wondering how it would compare to friskie fries (which we love) their fries were as good, and double size with the toppings spread throughout, not just on top.
There was only one other 2 person party here before us so we were surprised that service was a bit slow, but were excited to try the burger and fries.
The fries were HUGE! The box felt like 5lbs of food & we could not finish them. There were a lot of toppings on the fries and they were wicked hot. I would come back for those :)
Our less than “5” rating was just that it seemed a little (I hesitate to say) dirty. We actually saw someone walk up with the RIFF burger booklet and looked inside and turned around and exited without ordering. 😳 I would not have noticed but my daughter said “oh mom look! They have the food fights book too!”
One weird thing (that I almost reluctant to post because I wonder if it’s just me that finds this odd) is that one of the workers was wearing pajamas 😬. Perhaps I’m too old fashioned but it seems so unprofessional to wear pajamas to work or generally to have an unclean, unkempt appearance when working in the hospitality and food...
