A single drop of water falls from above, I look up to see the entire ceiling perspiring, covered in dew drops like a monstera plant in the Amazon. This was my introduction to the Islander, one of, if not the wettest restaurant in the entire country. The muggy atmosphere is complemented by the sopping wet waiters, who walk beneath the misters that spray beneath every doorframe. Every dish we ordered moistened and squished like a sponge that has only ever known water. The generals chicken was audible from the kitchen, flopping around like a new born baby on the delivery table. And trust me when I say there is not a dry noodle in the entire place. You can’t go wrong with any of the specialty combos, each one is damper than the last. So if you’re the kind of person that skips the dryer and puts your underwear on as soggy as possible, then splash on down to the wettest Chinese food in town, at the Islander. Update a year later: here in Warwick we live and die by the tides. We know the nature of water, its ebbs and flows. A high water mark is natural, or so I thought… See a year ago I thought the Islander had peak wetness, the tide brought in sopping chow mein, waterlogged bok choy, and surely would recede. THINK. AGAIN. New menu’s, more gumball machines, and that same level of drench we came to know and love. So splash back in y’all, the water is delicious.

This past Sunday we had my brother and sister-in-laws baby shower here in the banquet room. The staff was so helpful and really went out of their way to accommodate our choices, both in food and room set up. Renee was especially awesome, super efficient, and could handle anything. Lisa was also so kind and helpful in getting the room open to us early enough that day to decorate. The food was delicious, hot and fresh, and refilled quickly. All the guests couldn't stop bragging, even calling or texting us the next day to say how much they loved the time and the food! The banquet space was perfect and they allowed us to set up all our decorations, to make for a truly memorable event we were so proud of. My brother and his beautiful wife were so blessed by all of it! Will definitely hold more parties here in the future.

Was near Conimicut Point and me and a friend wanted to eat something nearby and found this place. It was rather dimly lit but had a wooded high ceiling field. They seated and served us right away and actually had the food all ready super quick (we ordered mainly appetizers). It was alot of food (like very filling for each items - being all appetizers), which was cool (taste was was ok). I feel like I would use/hire them for catering and big gatherings and for the amount of food i thought maybe 70 or more but it was lil under 60. We ordered spare ribs, fried dumplings, beef teriyaki, spring rolls, and a few other things. The lady server was a sweet heart too.

I WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STAR RATING !!6/25/17 So disgusted and appalled by the behavior of management and how they treat customers who have regularly gotten take out from their restaurant for nearly 30 years! My mom picked up her order and when i opened up the container with pork strips i found a very long blonde/white HAIR wrapped in between 2 of the pork strip pieces and nearly threw up!! i immediately washed my hands and got rid of the hair that i pulled out of the food. My mother refused to pay for something and throw it away and got back in her car and went back for another order. I called the restaurant because i was not about to have my mom wait for a 2nd time for something that was the restaurants fault. I talked to a girl and explained situation so she got manager who immediately was rude to me. i said im letting you know food is coming out of your kitchen with hair.He said i should have saved the hair and brought it back! are you joking? i washed it off my hands right away!! he goes well my people only have black hair! i said listen i have short dark brown hair and this came in the food container so im letting you know so my mom has the order ready when she gets there. well by now the guy was arguing with me and my mom was already there.HE GOES WHATEVER LADY to me. i go excuse me are you kidding me right now? i said my family has eaten at your restaurant for 30 years and you are going to speak to me so disrespectfully when im calling to tell you i had a problem with hair in my order? im explaining to him i was not calling to argue but then he brought it to a different level saying whatever to me when i just wanted the problem resolved and my mom not to have to wait. i could have been a jerk and demanded they deliver me another order because we should not have had to go back then be treated so horribly. we will never order from this place again. and i told the so called "manager" who had no people skills or customer service experience clearly that this was not the last he would hear from me! ill go to the owner after how i was spoken to. so disgusted at this service. They lost a...

Moved to the area 2+ years ago and have been trying out the local restaurants every so often and Islander finally came into mind. Based on the overall reviews and seemingly busy parking lot, I figured we couldn't go wrong....being fairly familiar with Asian cuisine, we held our expectations to a minimum (to at least mall quality level food). We just finished eating dinner with the takeout we brought home and we all agreed that it was the worst food collectively we have ever consumed. The namesake specials were atrocious, the flavor profiles of each dish were all over the place, and the cooking itself was amateurish. The Lo-mein was less than 40% noodle (flat not round!) and the sauce was not cooked into the noodles thoroughly. Within the 5mins it took us to get home, the sauce had settled onto the bottom. Wonton soup was bland (likely a cheap brand mix) and the wonton itself was a soggy mush with no chew. The crab rangoons although nicely fried smelled strongly of other foods that went into the fryer beforehand for which I couldn't figure out. Generals Shrimp was sadly a mess. The sauce was so watery that it sogged into the batter on the shrimp and turned it into mush before we got home! The sauce is supposed to be thick enough to prevent that... And wow, when they call it Hot and Sour soup, they literally meant it. It was ONLY Hot (in temperature) and Sour. All it was was an egg drop soup with some sour bamboo in it. The only items we were able to consume peacefully were the fried rice and plain fried chicken wings which was thankfully mediocre. The little interaction I had with the staff was pleasant but upon entry and after this dinner, it was immediately apparent that this restaurant caters to a specific crowd and palette which may or may not be to your liking but certainly not ours. We were only able to finish 1/3 of our meal until we started to not feel well. Because we did not dine in, I will leave 2 stars but for the food...

Edit: once again, ordered close to 45 dollars in take out. I can handle the fact that one of the combos was completely wrong, and it took me having to just about argue with the person on the phone that one out of the 3 dishes was not only wrong but something I never order. Which after working a 13 hour shift isn't what I wanted to deal with. I just wanted to pick up my food and go home to eat with my family. But, food was not good again. I don't know what happened to this place. Been coming here over 30 years. It is NOT the same anymore! So much so that I wanted Chinese tonight and ended up ordering Hans Palace. Which is something I haven't done in close to 14 years and for a good reason.

Edit: 4/26/24 I don't know what happened with this place, but last night was the second time within a month ordering 45 dollars worth of food for me, my father and my son. And neither one of us could stomach it enough to finish it.

The rice was almost mush, the general chicken barely had sauce and was somehow dry and practically well done. We normally substitute egg roll for fries, didn't get fries in either combo. I always give more than one chance. Especially places I go to regularly for over 30 years. But this was bad enough too write this review. Close to 100 dollars worth of food combined tossed in the garbage and ended up ordering pizza.

My original reveiw. This is my go to Chinese restaurant since...
