Look no further... First, the service was awesome. Ni was our server and he was amazing. He answered my questions about the menu, made a recommendation, and paid perfect attention to the little things. (Hand wipes, extra napkins, new place settings for the next course, drinks in timely manner, food executed on time etc). I wish I hadn't waited so long to try Mizu out! Now that I'm done kicking myself in the ass for not going sooner, let's talk food. For an appetizer I ordered the Pork Spare Ribs. The BEST I've had in a very long time. It was presented beautifully and Ni served it to me with pride as he carefully placed it in front of me. Three glistening ribs resting with a lovely carrot carved into a butterfly for a pretty touch. I wish I took a picture, but next time...The sauce on the ribs tasted like a yummy hoisin sauce of some sort. Not too much, not too little. Just right. The pork was the juiciest I've ever had and almost fell of the bone. This is NOT your typical dried out, tough rib meat with a bunch of fat. It was so good I didn't want to share it with my husband but had to let him taste one;) For my meal, I ordered from the Fusion Menu under Kitchen Entrees. Simple - Steak and broccoli. So, I feel the need to keep expressing how tender and juicy the meat is. This wasn't those strips of meat you get from the other spots around town. Did I mention Ni asked me how I wanted it cooked? Chunks of tender, scrumptious steak tips. The broccoli was bright green and steamed. The rice was perfectly sticky enough to stay on the chop sticks. It was so nice to feel good about what I was eating. I've tried a few places around here (The Islander, Han Palace, Yummy Kitchen, Jade Dragon, and Happy Garden). I know these aren't Japenese, but none even come close to the service, or the fresh tasting food. I'd rather drag myself out in another two feet of snow to come here then to order from any of the others again. They do offer pick up orders so you can order it on your way to pick it up. FINALLY I've found it. ...
Read moreOur first impression of this restaurant was not good. While not having many patrons it took a while to be seated. Our waitress, while pleasant, had zero idea of what anything was on the menu. For drinks we ordered the hot sake, the Hu La La, and a ramune (soda). The sake was the standard Gekkeikan served warm, nothing remarkable, tasted like it should. The Hu La La was delicious and seemingly on the stronger side. They (including the soda) took quite a while to receive. For food we ordered the bento with rocket shrimp meal and the assorted tempura meal. Both came with soup, only one soup was served. The meals took a very long time to receive, over 30 minutes. The rocket shrimp bento came out with what appeared to be shrimp tempura instead. When informed about the mistake, we were told that the rocket shrimp is just shrimp tempura but with butterflied shrimp instead. This was very disappointing considering the rocket shrimp bento was priced higher than the shrimp tempura bento. The rice was dry, the shumai was very tasty, and the roll (comes with a Cali roll, subbed with a "Rock and Roll") was just okay. The rocket shrimp tasted exactly like shrimp tempura and wasn't very good. The assorted tempura meal was good, the shrimp tasting better than the rocket shrimp.
We were told the rocket shrimp meal would be comped but it wasn't, and the hot sake was billed as a higher priced sake ($3.50 higher). The sake issue was fixed. Overall the experience was not one I would like to ever repeat. The meal prices were much higher than the quality received although the drink prices...
Read moreJust left there. The family wanted to take me out for my birthday. We were disappointed. They felt so bad that the waitresses never came out with my birthday fried ice cream and the gong. She brought the bill but never the ice cream. The kids sat waiting for them to bring it out. My husband had gone up front to secretly ask for it to surprise me like two other tables had their birthday surprises while we were there. So we got up to leave and the waitress was just about to come out with the ice cream. So I said oh I will go back to the table. I went back to the table and only one waitress (not even the one we had for the meal) came out and said it's not a surprise but here's your ice cream. They didn't sing or have a gong. The kids were so disappointed. I could care less. But it took the fun away from our celebrations. Very very disappointing. During our meal the chef didn't offer sake. Other places offer sake and have a bottle of water to squirt at the kids. Nope. Not here. Then we notice another chef joking with his table and giving them sake. So I asked the waitress if we didn't get sake because we had kids at our table. I have no idea what she said. But a few minutes later the chef comes out with the sake squirt bottle. We had our coats on and were waiting for the bill! Had to laugh. Umm no we don't want sake now! Food was ok not different from any other hibachi place we've been to around RI. Sushi was good. They offered a $10 coupon. We may use it once when we want sushi take out. But won't be...
