Used to have the best home fries in the area for years. A few months ago I ordered a dish with home fries and all they were was boiled potatoes thrown on the grill. I spoke to the manager, for the second time in a few months, and complained and asked what happened to the old recipe? Today I went in for breakfast and discovered that their solution was to season their home fries with a TON of salt! If I didn’t have high blood pressure before, I do now! I guess they don’t know what garlic or onion powder are or Google to look up recipes for home fries.
To the owner of Cozy Grill, thank you for responding to my post. I have been patronizing your restaurant for the past 27 years, and your home fries recipe may not have changed in the 27 years as you say, but the consistency in which you season each order of home fries has. A couple of months ago my order of home fries tasted like there was no seasoning on the potatoes at all, and the order I had yesterday tasted like all that was added was salt and A LOT of it, too much so. As doctors have told us for years, too much salt in our dies is bad for us. A recipe is like a chemical formula, if you want a good result you have to be consistent with your blending of the formula or there could be undesirable consequences. I am a long time patron and have loved your home fries for years because they were the best I had ever tasted all around Rhode Island and New England, but most of all the best in Warwick. They used to have a consistent flavor every time I ordered them, not the hit or mis I have been experiencing as of late. The atmosphere and staff are still great as they have always been for the...
Read moreThis is a tough review. It probably is applicable for my situation but maybe not for others. I read a lot of positive reviews about the great food and decided to stop in and try out a simple breakfast. We both had the simplest least expensive thing on the menu; 2 eggs, home fries and toast and my guest added a side of bacon. Due to the nature of this simple breakfast there isn't a lot you can do to impress with it but there were a couple of poor score items. The eggs were eggs but the home fries which would have received a solid 9 score get only a 5 because they were way over salted. Personal peeve for me being a person with high blood pressure I've become accustomed to low salt. And it irritates me when food preparation over salts food when they put a salt shaker on every table and anyone can add more salt but none of us can take it away. A demerit on that one. And another demerit on the bacon which came out the texture of potato chips. Put a fork to one and you end up with a pile of broken pieces on your plate. Also when you review a restaurant shouldn't you also review it for value. Paying $9 for a breakfast I can get elsewhere that is just as good for $4 to $7 gets this 1 star for value. But I'm going to throw a observation in here. Most of the high reviews I read were for some very interesting varied breakfast offerings and maybe if you want an $18 brunch kind of breakfast this might be the place to go but if you're looking for plain and simple this isn't...
Read moreI'm delighted to share my positive experience at The Cozy Grill in Warwick. Amid the chaos of a recent move to the area, this charming brunch spot turned out to be a true gem. After a frustrating encounter with deceptive movers, the warm ambiance and welcoming staff at The Cozy Grill restored my faith in humanity.
Upon entering, the delightful hostess, who defied her 82 years with grace, made us feel instantly at home. Her energy was contagious, and I couldn't help but be impressed as she led us to our table with the vigor of someone half her age.
The menu offered a delightful array of options, and my choice, the cornbread Waffle Benedict, was a revelation. Topped with tender steak tips, asparagus, red peppers, and accompanied by some of the best home fries I've had in a while, it was a culinary delight. My boyfriend opted for the pulled pork Benedict, and we both found our meals to be incredibly flavorful and satisfying.
Affordability and generous portions added to the appeal of The Cozy Grill. This experience has solidified it as our go-to brunch spot, and we're eagerly anticipating our next visit next weekend.
The attentive servers further enhanced our experience, offering refills without us even needing to ask—a rare and appreciated touch in a time where quality customer service can be elusive. It's heartening to find a place like The Cozy Grill where genuine hospitality and delicious food thrive, proving that exceptional service is still...
