Gathering Grounds Coffee Shop — Restaurant in Washington Township

10/16 My wife and I moved hear in the last month. So we have been enjoying trying all of the new (to us) places that the lake has to offer. Gathering Grounds was one of those places. Walking in, they were quite busy, which was a good sign. They have much to choose from on the menu. The staff was friendly. While trying to decide what to order, I did feel a bit rushed to order as the cashier asked us 3 times what we would like to order after letting her know we weren't sure yet (lots to choose from). There was no one behind us in line at this point. We decided on the I Am Legend lemonade, maple bacon latte, and 2 breakfast sandwiches on bagels. Both of the drinks were very good. But unfortunately while both sandwiches tasted ok, both were very cold. We waited about 10 minutes to get both sandwiches. I understand that the sandwiches are pre-made and refrigerated. So they just need to be heated up and any topping added to them. We took the sandwiches to go, so I wasn't aware how cold they were. Otherwise I would have just asked them to heat them properly, and I have no doubt they would have. That being said, I will definitively come back and try this place again. Computer system's were down today. Our mobile order didn't come through. So we had to wait a little longer for our order. No big deal. Drinks come out - They're perfect.

But we had 3 oatmeal orders as well.

Thick - Brown Sugar & Cinnamon - add chocolate chips Very simple

I had no intention of checking the oatmeal prior to leaving. I had good faith they were made correctly even though we were never asked what wanted. I guess we were getting whatever they made.

I got to work handed out the oatmeal to those who ordered it.

It was 50% water and the other half for 2 of them was oats and pound of brown sugar that was floating on the top of all the water. The 3rd was drowned in water enough that it spilled out of the sealed lid and it had zero brown sugar or cinnamon.

It's an unfortunate hit or miss on the oatmeal. Check before you leave with it. Food and drinks are expensive which is fine because of it's high quality but when it only comes out correct half the time is frustrating.

The Gathering Grounds Coffee Shop is a small, cozy establishment run by the Indian Lake Community Church. I go to the Gathering Grounds Coffee Shop when my dogs are being groomed at Dawn's Dog House. I get their special beverage of the day. For every beverage you order, you get a punch out in a card. After twelve beverages, you get the thirteenth free. Also, they sell snack items, different favored teas and coffees. You can purchase coffee beans. I like to grind my own coffee beans. I use a percolator coffee pot.
