I normally avoid confrontation, and I understand that the owner has to keep the lights on in the place. I normally don't complain about my food but, shame on me. I guess I was the big loser.
Me and my wife had decided to try this spot out because a few friends had mentioned how "fresh" the food was. We were greeted as soon as we walked in, and our server Dennis was a gentleman. He quickly got us a high-chair for our little one, and also asked if he could get anything for her! A good first impression is always important, but more important is the impression that will last.
We had ordered a sushi roll, Hibachi Chicken, and Chicken Pad Thai. Salad and Miso soup were both good, sushi was fantastic. Food came out quick, and hot!
The Pad Thai I ordered was nothing similar to what I've had in the past (I was a professional chef and worked in a Thai kitchen...) and the picture on the menu was very misleading.
I was expecting bean sprouts, peanuts, a fresh lime, fresh cilantro. NOPE. I got a loaf of brown noodles that were overcooked with red onion, peppers, and bits of chicken, egg and tofu. ( NO PEANUT NO LIME NO CILANTRO) Not to mention they used WAY TOO MUCH TAMARIND.
I tried to eat it, I looked at my wife with disappointment and told her my displeasure, and I hate to complain about my food. I'm not going to force this down my throat.
I complained to the owner and he proceeded to give me a "discount" which turned out to be 20% off my 12.00 pad Thai. 2 bucks, thanks buddy.
I asked again, explained my displeasure and dis satisfaction. He began to get angry with me, and tell me that most Americans don't know how to eat pad Thai, and that the way he makes it is the real way and the best.
He told me to make some American sauce and put it on there, I almost told the guy off. So I suppose because I'm "American" I don't know how to eat pad Thai. Okay?
So eventually he gave me a whole 50% off after I told him we weren't coming back. I really had to argue with this guy for 10 minutes to get 4 dollars. As I proceeded to leave we had boxed the food because my wife said if we're paying for it lets at least take the food home. On the way out he says "So I see you're taking it home, so it was good!" (being sarcastic)
Wow, I just decided to leave that crap on the table. Not coming back, and you're lucky you didn't get a 1 star.
CONCLUSION - DON'T complain about your food because he will try to intimidate you and get...
Read moreThey are CHEAP. -Their beef and broccoli gets smaller and smaller every time I order it. There is not much beef in there either. It comes half full in a large container. -They are the cheapest of the cheap place I've EVER ordered from.... so one time I asked for EVERY SUSHI TO BE SEPARATED (in separate containers). They were for different people. Is that unreasonable? People have certain allergies, and some of them i CANNOT tell apart with the eye. They gave me a fuss about it over the phone!! And then they finally agreed, but they all came in one large container instead of actually labeling the sushi in separate containers. NEVER ORDERING THERE AGAIN AFTER THIS HAPPENED NOW 3 TIMES. -They 'assumed' the sushi was for only one person even though i specified it's 3 people.. and a small clump of wasabi was given. I had to separate the wasabi among 3 people. It was really embarrassing for them. And then the ginger was hardly there. -As for the sushi?? So the roll I got was a Philly roll. HARDLY ANY SALMON IN THERE! I was shocked! I took a pic and I will upload it here when I get the chance. I just could not believe it. I even pulled it out. They are really cutting corners! -I got ONE pair of chopsticks when I said it was for 3 people!! Not that they would actually have the decency to ASK... you have to not only tell them, but you have to call back to remind them AND ask for a manager if you actually want another pair or things to be done right the way you ask and also the way it is expected. -The taste is okay, nothing great but not usually bad. One time it was rotten but usually not bad. I've gotten hairs in my food, and silly me still ordered there because I was so hungry - and frankly any time I order asian food there is hairs. I will be investing in a sushi making kit from now on and already bought the wraps on Amazon- or i'll just eat it when I go out of town. Sad for them! They just lost a customer. And my fiance who used to go there is no longer willing to order there either. They came up knocking like the police and gave attitude...
Read moreOcean Asian Cuisine is usually great. Good sushi, consistent, and quick delivery—I ordered just last week and everything was great as usual . Tonight was a total 180 in the worst direction.
This time I ordered through DoorDash because I needed to include a few notes and I wanted to make sure they were clear and in writing. I asked that the shrimp tempura and Philly rolls be boxed separately because of allergies. The shrimp tempura and spider rolls look extremely similar and I didn’t want them to be mixed up and our allergic family member accidentally get the shrimp. And my Mom is a cancer patient who can’t have raw fish, so I wanted the Philly roll boxed separate out of an abundance of caution. Neither of these requests were honored, despite the fact I specified it was to work around an allergy. Thankfully we were able to definitively tell the difference between the spider and shrimp rolls, and my Mom’s order wasn’t touching the Philly roll. Then I found a small white hair sticking out of one of my rolls.
EXTREMELY disappointing experience from a usually...
