Pezzo Pizza 2 (Long Valley) — Restaurant in Washington Township

The best pizza I’ve ever had! I know, I know, that sounds like a cliche. Let me expound. I’m 50 years old, a lifelong NJ resident and I’ve been blessed to travel our beautiful country and some parts of the world, particularly Europe. I’m saying I’ve had pizza “everywhere” and for close to 50 years of life. Furthermore, before entering the law enforcement field as my career, I worked in two separate pizzerias for several years learning the fine art of real pizza making and some wonderful Italian culinary skills. Maybe I’m not an expert, but I do have some knowledge in this subject. Every Friday, my wife and I go to Pezzo Pizza in Long Valley and, with wine and beer in hand (BYOB), we order this: “Large pie, well done, half pepperoni, half plain, and BTW, put the pepperoni on the pizza when it comes out of the oven.” The hot cheese cooks the pepperoni perfectly or else it comes out too crispy, unless you like that. Ok, first rule with ordering pizza, always get it “well done.” No, it will not come out burnt. That’s “very well done.” If you do not say, “well done,” it will come out too ‘doughy’ and if you say, “very well done,” it will come out on the burnt side. Anyway, trust me on this. The sauce on the pizza at Pezzo, which I personally believe makes the pizza, is phenomenal and well circulated throughout the pizza. It’s a phenomenal pie, and I look forward to my Fridays with my wife at Pezzo. Order my pie and let me know...

I must admit the food is outstanding. Wait staff is young and inexperienced but accommodating and friendly. My issue is the last time I placed an order for carry out pizza the person that took my order got it wrong. It happens so not a big issue in the scheme of things but when I arrived to pick up my pizzas I told the counter person what I ordered. He commented, "there's no Buffalo chicken pizza". I explained it's one of the 3 pizzas I ordered and he turned and left. I then sat for 20 minutes waiting for my order my other 2 pizzas were ready and sitting and getting cold. No one told me they had to make the 3rd pizza and on fact tried to gloss over it. No customer care sense. I prefer to patronize establishments that care about their customers. Horrible service…I will never spend another dollar there again. I called in 1 personal pizza C&B and 1 large pie wrap and anti pasta TOLD 45 min I figured okay that makes sense weekend people ordering I get the there my plain pie became a personal pie I asked what did the waitress write down he said two personal SMH who the heck would take 45 minutes for two personal pies. Then all he had to say was oh maybe she misunderstood you. OMG I said enough said paid and left never will return as long as I am a resident in this town and will tell any of my family not to order from here unless you want the oh it’s a misunderstanding… BTW not my first misunderstanding here my wife had the same and waited another 30 min for them to correct the order!
