I questioned writing this review because the staff was wonderful and accommodating. However, I can't get past the food we received, so I feel I have to write it... My sister and I each drove an hour+ to meet each other here for dinner. We don't go out much and were excited about the menu with dishes that looked so delicious. I ordered salmon and my sister ordered scallops, both in what was described as "Lemon Butter Sauce: White wine, fresh lemon, shallots, & butter." The wine was good and reasonably priced, but when the bread came, my piece had a HUGE amount of mold on it that I didn't notice until after I had taken a bite. Honestly, there was so much mold that I thought maybe blue cheese was baked into the bread, but no, it was mold. Sorry, I didn't take a pic. After that, I was too grossed out to eat, so I canceled my order. My sister's scallops were delivered floating in a gelatinous goo, not a fresh lemon sauce. She ate one and left the rest. We didn't complain about the scallops, and the restaurant was very nice to comp us 2 glasses of wine. However, no manager came to the table, and he left our poor waitress, Danielle, who was WONDERFUL (and we tipped well) to deal with the situation alone. Needless to say, it will be a long time before I eat bread and my sister has scallops at a restaurant, and we will never go to this establishment for a meal again.

It’s a shame to post that the Chesapeake Inn is one of the best seafood places in the area. We dined there four times in last year and recently for the ALL YOU CAN EAT SHRIMP yet not until we left and saw the kitchen help eating the same special at the bar did we realize how sub par our serving was presented to us in comparison. Very shady. My suggestion is to eat in the dining rooms. The downside is the bar area is where the HAPPY HOUR specials are ordered and served which in turn results in smaller portions. And furthermore, when we asked the server for another serving of all you can eat shrimp to which he replied “ Is this your second or third helping of shrimp!” What does he care? Remember, it’s ALL YOU CAN EAT! It’s bar shrimp, medium at best and $26.99! There are no seconds on the SIDES. A pittance portion of vegetables and child’s portion of rice and the price for their frozen seafood is overwhelming for the underwhelming portions!! Never again! And those happy hour crab cakes need mayonnaise, more herbs and a LIFT in respect to their size and taste! It’s sad when restaurants add these useless garnishes/dry julienne cuts of unknown fresh veggies on my plate. Look at the pitiful stuffed shrimp! Nothing creative, all cheap plate props. That kale salad was plopped on the plate, $14! Do better, Chesapeake Tavern.

Disappointed, again….and also Saddened: I really try to be fair and went back a Third time after being disappointed before. It’s not what it used to be back in the 90’s when it was Great and a bunch of us would go monthly. Now, it’s Mediocre, over-priced, the only show in town, and….They Know It. 1. Their “Middleneck clams” are teeny tiny, this term is misleading, and more like “Sub-Little neck”, when you refer to Barneget Light’s and Fulton Street’s web sites. They are maybe 1 inch in size and with the faintest taste, and definitely not 2 to 2/12 inches, my preferred size and having taste. If you like them small, have at it. Shellfish information-Hard Clams Your Essential Guide to Clams | What Are Clams? - Types of Clams 2. It’s supposed to be “CLAM Chowder” with a little bit of bacon, and not the opposite. Notice the order of their ingredients on the menu, which is correct. 3. “Sea” Scallops and size? Did they come from the “Little Sea” or were they “Flattened Sea Scallops” that were cross-cut in half to give you more pieces? Ending with a positive note, their Iceberg Wedge salad, was a Wedge Salad. For $85+, I’m sorry to say Chesapeake Tavern, that I think we are done visiting you. You have truly forgotten your roots where you started from, and WE are saddened.

Two words: “FIVE STARS”.

Chesapeake Tavern exceeded all our expectations and delivered an absolutely phenomenal experience for our wedding reception. Whether you're looking for a great bar, a memorable dining experience, or a venue to host a special event, this place is an absolute gem.

When my wife and I found ourselves in a time crunch to secure a venue for our reception, Chesapeake Tavern came to the rescue. Rachel, in particular, was an absolute pleasure to work with. Her professionalism and accommodation put us at ease from the moment we met her. She went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of, and her expertise truly shone through.

The seafood menu at Chesapeake Tavern was nothing short of impeccable. The culinary creations served at our reception were simply amazing, with the oysters stealing the show. Freshness was the name of the game, and the oysters were a testament to that. Our guests couldn't stop raving about the quality of the food and the outstanding service they received.

Speaking of service, the staff at Chesapeake Tavern were second to none. From the moment our guests arrived, they were made to feel right at home. The staff's accommodating and attentive nature created a warm and welcoming atmosphere that contributed to the overall success of our reception. They went above and beyond to ensure that each guest's needs were met, leaving a lasting impression on everyone.

Do not hesitate to visit Chesapeake Tavern. This establishment truly deserves five stars for their exceptional service, delectable cuisine, and unparalleled hospitality. Whether you're looking for a place to unwind with a drink, enjoy a memorable meal, or host a special occasion, Chesapeake Tavern is the perfect spot.

Thank you, Chesapeake Tavern, for creating an unforgettable experience for our wedding reception. You have left an indelible mark on our hearts and in the memories...

Swung by last night for the dinner service. Upon entering you're transported to a New England coastal town with its atmosphere. We arrived 10 mins late for out reservation, but were still seated promptly, The restaurant was busy, but quality and service didn't suffer at all. We started with a glass of the Baby Sancere and the Fig Mule. Both were refreshing and delightful. The wine list seems well curated and offers a good deal of variety, of both old world and new. The wine list even gives brief recommendations on what dish it pairs well with. As for the food, we made a meal out of some appetizers. I had some PEI oysters which were smooth and slightly salty contrasted by a bright and crisp mignonette where the shallots really stood out. The shrimp cocktail was plump and poached wonderfully. The house made cocktail sauce was the best I've ever tasted, refreshing and with just the right amount of bite to it. We then shared the crab nachos, the pepper jack cheese sauce complimented the flavors, but I do wish it was served with some more crab. Lastly we finished with the bacon Mac and cheese. The combination of cheddar, pepper jack, and goat cheeses were unique but fell a little flat to me. I often tend to enjoy a creamier Mac and cheese as well. The white truffle oil was subtle but in all of the best ways, and rounded out well with the lardons. At the end of the night, Marcella, the owner came up to us and we had a pleasant conversation about music in restaurants, some light travel, and some stories from my career in live events.Overall we had a great evening. The menu was unique and tasty, the atmosphere inviting, the service never left me waiting, and the staff friendly. There are many items on the menu I would still love to try. Having had the experience we did here, I would be eager to try out their other restaurant, St....

Easter brunch was incredibly underwhelming at best. Buffet was sparse, with options often empty or minimal. The food that was available was, frankly, not good. Lamb was overcooked and sinfully dry, fish options tasted "fishy" (not in the good way), waffles were undercooked, and the clam chowder was actually ham chowder, as it contained a ton of pork and no discernable shellfish. Tables were PACKED into the dining rooms, making it difficult to get to the buffet and, meaning when you sat down to attempt to eat, you had to spend most of the time staying out of the way of folks walking by your table. I spent most of my dining experience being bumped into by other guests. Our server was not especially attentive, which is never ideal, but especially during a buffet. Plates accumulated at our table and were not cleared in a timely fashion. Not only that, but the "bottomless" beverage options seemed to be a difficult concept for servers. If the glass is empty, bring a new beverage. Don't ask. It's bottomless. Bring the drinks. Or, if you're busy, put a carafe on the table. I shouldn't finish a drink and have to wait 20 minutes for the next one. Especially when you're literally timing your guests. (Everyone was given 1.5 hours to eat and get out). Don't offer something you can't execute. Now, I normally wouldn't scrutinize this hard, however, this "dining" experience came with a MANDATORY 22% gratuity. I typically would have no issue with this, however, a horribly sub par brunch experience was provided. And while we didn't see much of our server, Danielle, she was sure to let us know when we reached our "time limit" and had to leave.

Maybe a weekday night dinner would be better? I don't know. But based on my experience? Avoid....
