Andrene's — Restaurant in Washington

I hesitated to leave this review because I’ve been coming to this place on and off for a few years and the food is always been pretty good but as of today I made up my mind I’m not going back and the reason being is the lady who works during the day 🤦‍♂️I don’t believe that she’s the owner. She is very nasty all of the time and I ignore it most of the time until I got to the point where I actually thought 💁‍♂️why should I keep coming into a restaurant that charges me to use my credit or my debit card and on top of that, they’re nasty now the lady who owns the place I think that she’s the one with the short hair. She’s always been nice. I’ve never had an issue with her and really I’ve never directly had an issue with the nasty lady, but it gets to a point where you start to think why should I keep supporting this when she doesn’t respect my business so as of today that’s my last straw and that’s mainly because this lady is so nasty. Most of the time she wears it in her face and her attitude! I hesitated to even leave the review because I can see that the biggest problem is the fact that the owner jealously supports whatever and it seems as though she defends or deflects instead of fixing the issues! I can truly understand why it is it’s only one person Still working in the restaurant and probably one or two people in the kitchen! Again, the food is pretty good, but the lady who works during the day she’s just too nasty for me! And this is from somebody who’s been coming to you for number of years, but I just finally came to the conclusion. Maybe it was my “I’m done with it day “ where I said why should I continue to give somebody $23 $24 $30 $35 when I can spend 1/3 of that amount with people who appreciate my business! So before the owner leaves a comment saying that the person is a liar because I read a lot of her comments on here … you need to take a step back and stop calling your customers liars because they told you about their experience! You need to look at yourself. It’s hard to do that and stay objective when the business belongs to you, but in the interest of business or good customer service calling your customers a liar every time they leave you a bad review doesn’t necessarily mean that they didn’t have a bad experience! And by the looks of things, I read a few comments on here they said some of the same things! I’ve never had a direct rude nasty conflict with her, but she’s so condescending and so nasty I got to a point where I was like you know what I’m not coming here anymore because she’s just nasty! goodbye and good riddance! and just in case you decide to call me a liar then I’m gonna say you’re a liar too because I’m basically leaving a very honest comment whether you wanna fix it or not that’s your business cause I...

June 1 2024 And I know she's going to respond and lie and say that I said give my order away no I did not I said and and I see on her review that she's saying that I said I was on a budget have the correct prices and it came up to like 24 $25 and thats a lie her menu is not up to date and I was cool with that but I told her I was waiting on my ride she called me and I said I'm still waiting on my ride and she was like well we're closing I said well I don't know what you want me to do I'm still waiting on my ride I'm at work and I live close to there so I knew I was going to make it in that time and she was like well unfortunately I don't have nothing to do with that and I gave your plate away 20 mins later

so don't let this lady lie to you don't let her lie she's very rude and with this being a first time experience on the phone cuz actually usually I go in and order and wait and I've seen this lady multiple times for the past 5 years that I've lived here in DC for her to be so rude over a $24 plate that it was that serious that you had to give my food away and be rude to me on the phone my car broke down and so I had to wait on a ride and I let her know that and she said oh unfortunately you know I don't know what to tell you and then ended up hanging up the phone so don't let her lie they're rude and disrespectful and the food has been trash for the last 6 months anyways but also 🤷 where is your customer service 🤔 I've been a loyal Customer for years and I'm 10 mins past pick up time and 30 mins before closing and u berate me and banned me shame on you I hope no one deal with this...

I’ve been craving Jamaican food for a while now and I happened to be in this area so I stopped here at Andrenes and I have no regret at all. It was very nice to meet the owner (Andrene) the first visit. She was so welcoming, pleasant and sweet. The food was AMAZING. I ordered the combination platter jerk chicken and stewed chicken. I also ordered a beef Patty, coco bread and side of Mac and cheese. All of this for 34$ and still had left overs. (3 people sharing this). Everything was absolutely fresh and the taste was great. To top it off, the bathroom was so clean and smelled really good. You can tell the owner takes pride in her restaurant and enjoys her job. I WILL definitely come back to this place and recommend others to come here.

After reading some of the reviews I’m kind of shocked to see how dishonest people can be. I wouldn’t let those bad reviews scare you. This place is so worth it.

EDIT: I wasn’t gonna edit this review, but I have too because this is the SECOND time I come here and receive HORRIBLE customer service. Just straight up rude and the way you treat my child goes a LONG way. My daughter is 3 years old and she touched a Halloween decoration and this woman made her cry.. mind you these decorations aren’t even more than a dollar. So who cares?!? She’s a child. You could’ve went out your way to give her a little spider to play with until we were out of the restaurant. Mind you, I drive an HOUR to come to this restaurant because this is the only one that has AMAZING food. The cook and owner are NOT to blame.
