This was an interesting week and did not allow for exploring after PT. Yesterday, we had errands to run, following the lessons I taught first.
We have eaten here before. I had just never reviewed it. So, following errands we stopped for dinner.
Country Rose is a quaint little restaurant, across from the Spanaway Golf Course and shares a huge shopping area with Safeway and Tractor Supply among other businesses.
We were greeted and seated almost immediately by a very friendly hostess. The menu had changed some since our last visit, but the tried and true was still there. While I did not order breakfast, it is served all day for those who like a late breakfast or breakfast for dinner.
I ordered fish and chips with a salad instead of coleslaw, which our friendly and attentive server was able to do without hesitation.
My husband ordered the Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes, gravy, and salad. The dinner vegetable was green beans.
Our food arrived in short order. My fish was lightly breaded, flaky and not at all greasy. Ditto with the fries as in hot, crisp and not greasy. There was more than enough tartar sauce for my fish. I don’t use a lot but some restaurants only give you enough for one piece, maybe two if you are lucky.
Ray said his food was hot, and the gravy on the meat and potatoes was perfectly seasoned. The potatoes looked homemade and not out of a box. The green beans looked fresh, were bright green and did not look soft or mushy.
Country Rose had a variety of desserts. Ray, of course, picked their carrot cake which is very good. He had already eaten a couple of bites before I snapped the picture.
This restaurant definitely attracts a much more mature crowd. Quite a few were regulars and were warmly greeted by name by all of the staff who saw and recognized them. The downside to the age demographic were the cell phone conversations on speaker, and those with hearing loss seated at other tables, who were speaking loudly so as to be heard. While not a deterrent to us going back, not everyone might understand, although we will all be there at some point one day. It was nice to see everyone, including us, be treated so well and kindly by the...
Read moreI have frequented this place since moving to Spanaway and I typically get the same EXACT order every time. Lately I have been calling a to-go order in online and picking it up (same order) and yesterday the order was made wrong. This wasn't extremely upsetting because accidents happen, and people are human. I called back and the waitress on the phone immediately apologized, said she took my name down on some notes so that I can have the order re-made when I come back.
This Friday morning I called the order in on the phone ahead of time like I usually do. A male answered and I explained what happened the day prior and he said acknowledged and said that he will ensure that its made correctly. So on my way to work I stop to pick up the order and its like I never called and explained the situation. Everyone seems to "not know what's going on: when I stated that this order was a remake. I had to just sit there and keep explaining over and over again as if I was making the whole thing up when they could simply verify the order or verify with the host that gave me my food and answered when I called the restaurant back.
I felt made a fool of and others that see me often (even the day before) refused to speak up on my behalf. I have been to this restaurant in and out of my military uniform. SO they knew me. I finally had enough and just said forget it and left the establishment. Time wasted and humiliated in front of other customers and the male manager yelled out "OKAY BYE!" as I turned around to leave. Outrageous!
UPDATE: I have this restaurant another chance as I did love the omelette and the waitresses for the most part are amazing. I order the same things a few times a week to pick up before going in to work and the item was made wrong again. No big deal… there was a remake…The remake was wrong as well. The same MALE MANAGER told me to find somewhere else to eat from now on because they cannot meet my expectations!!!!
I believe he is a racist because he doesn’t even speak when he sees me and these two incidents are despicable. I’m also 8 months pregnant. Do not support until they get this man...
Read moreThey seemed to be understaffed, took an hour to get our food. I ordered the a farmers hobo hash plate. It was described in the menu as a mixture of eggs and various breakfast meast and cheese. I was expecting the eggs to be scrabbled alone, the potatos grilled and then both added to the other ingredients. It came to the table with everything cooked together like a scramble and was very unappitizing. The texture of the hobo potato's where mushie, they really missed that "grilled" crisp. The Chilli was well, didn't taste 'homemade'; tasted liked they poured it out of a can and added all the beans. YOUR FRENCH FRYS WERE THE FREAKING BEST! That saved the food rating! The poor waitresses where runing ragged. We barely saw our waitress, except for her at other tables and never turning our way. She never come by to tell us about the delays on the food or check to see if we needed refills. I set without a drink for most of that time and only got the refill while checking out. She was very very very busy, and that was okay. The major issue I had this evening was the extremely loud vehicles that were aloud to sit in your parking lot, blasting their base so loud it shook the whole building. It literally shook the walls, floors, seats and the tables. I felt it from my toes to the tip of my hair, through down to my finger tips. My hands are killing me while writing this. I have a medical condition called fibromyalgia. The constant vibrations from the vehicles base put me into a severe flare, which is very painful. The sound and vibrations lasted a couple of minutes to ten-tweleve minutes at a time. I asked the waitress about it, and she said it was common and shrugged with an iterated smirk(towards the vehicle not me). I mentioned it to the gentlemen at the register but he seemed like it was an every night thing, he also shrugged it off. I would suggest looking into a lawyer about what can be done about the constant disturbance. Tonight was pretty unpleasant because of that alone. Stop acting like it doesn't exist, it does and it's harmful to people with...
