IC Teriyaki — Restaurant in Washington

It was ok. The chicken lacked any grill marks or flavor. Possibly baked or poached, I really hope it wasn't simply microwaved. The teriyaki sauce reminded me of Soy Vey!, a bottled teriyaki sauce that is watery and no where near as sweet as the more usual bottled teriyaki sauces. I also tried their spicy chicken. They add some spicy chili sauce then pour the teriyaki sauce over. The chili sauce had a nice bite and flavor, but I would have preferred it mixed into the teriyaki rather than a few small dollops on each piece of chicken. The rice was classic sticky white rice, but was too sticky and was bordering on mush. I'm not a rice cooking expert but I've been told that by my friends who grew up cooking rice that either they didn't wash the rice before cooking, used too much water, over-cooked, or some combination of them all. The salad portion was good. A mix of various greens with a nice tart dressing. Sadly, salad is mostly wasted on me. I showed up 5mins before they opened at 11 and it seemed Iike a heaven sent deal, I had been up since 2am with very little food, I got back in the semi to go to our warehouse in MT Vernon. Opened my food only to find my chicken was still ice cold. My Rice was stemming hot and delicious. I mixed my chicken in with the rice to let it warm. I sat with an empty stomach wondering when that chicken had been cooked and why was it ice cold. Either way the sauce was good, the rice was hot, and the service was amazing. We enjoyed our food and the owners were super friendly. The gyoza appears to be homemade (is it?) which is nice. The sauce, which can be used universally for the gyoza, meat and even the salad, is delicious. Not too salty, with a hint of ginger and a good sesame flavor that even my kids raved about.
