First off, let me say I've only been here once and I only have had a few items from their menu, so you can take this review with a grain of salt. To start off, pulling up to the place got my hopes up as to it being in a business park. This made me happy since like a good number of the tastier joints I have visited in my travels have been in this type of setting. The decor I loved, though tight it gives a welcoming feeling that will make you comfortable right away. I wish I could say the same about the staff I don't know if they were just having an off day or what , but they were a long ways off from what you would expect in a BBQ place. But that's as far as I can give them credit for. Now the place is filled with salmon paraphernalia and I won't go into anything salmon related since I'm not an expert on it, I'll leave others to be the judge in that department. But on everything else I was far from impressed. The sides were like what you'd buy from the grocery store deli (uneventful at best) and the sauce tasted like they used ketchup and sweet & sour to create the base. But when it came to Po'boy (supposed smoked sausage) we had (called Larry's Famous Poor Boy) I felt down right insulted by what they passed off as one. First off, the sandwich they gave me was on a hoagie roll (which make it more a sandwich than a Po'boy) instead of a baguette and as to the fix'in, what can I say, some sort of beef salami deli slices with melted cheese (cheddar?) and bless their hearts...
Read moreWe came to Larry’s after trying several underwhelming places that charged way too much for the quality of food. First of all, the team at Larry’s is outstanding. They are incredibly nice, friendly, and easy to do business with. They set us up with a free tasting for our wedding catering, and when we came in, we were pleasantly surprised as we were served extremely generous portions of pork and brisket (these are the meats we wanted to try). We literally took one bite and knew right then and there that Larry’s is the REAL DEAL. We set up our order and paid deposit that day. Fast forward to our big day and WOW. We didn’t have as many guests as we expected, but it’s a good thing we didn’t, because everyone ate DOUBLE the food because it was THAT GOOD. We also ordered the coleslaw in addition to the bulk meats and that was the right move because everything that comes out of that place is incredible! You have to try their bbq sauce because it is the best and elevates their meats when you drizzle it on top of the brisket. My mouth is literally watering thinking about it! I have never written a review before but Larry’s is the best food I have ever eaten! They don’t charge enough for HOW GOOD IT IS!
P.S. the service level is excellent. Our food was delivered right on time on our big day and they really made it easy for...
Read moreStopped by to grab a pound of brisket because I've seen signs as I've driven by a few times. Also picked up a half pound of pork and a chicken sandwich for my wife. Of note, the meats I selected were Alderwood smoked. I wanted to try this out because I generally use Hickory/Mesquite/Walnut when I bbq at home so wanted to set expectations before I tried myself. Coming here wasn't a good idea.
Brisket was deli sliced with pepper on top, think philly cheesesteak thickness. Consistancy was tough. No noticable bark on the meat. If I had to guess, it was machine sliced and tossed in seasoning and left in a hot pan to quickly serve diners. Flavour wasn't strong but it wasn't terrible. 2/5
Pork was better, had more flavour but still a bit mild on the smokiness. It wasn't shredded well so there were lots of larger pieces together. Depending on your preference this may not be to your liking. 3/5
Chicken sandwich was middling. Nothing about it stood out. 2/5.
Sauce is basically Bull's-eye with their label on it. No complaints there because I grew up with it but don't expect anything beyond that.
Overall, I'd say this food would be acceptable on an all you can eat buffet, but as a targeted BBQ joint I'd...
