Stopped in for a late breakfast today 2/17/22 as I was driving home to Creve Coeur. Lot of vehicles in the parking lot which is always a good sign. Larger inside than one would think. Very bright and inviting inside. Seat yourself and I did. Was waited on promptly by a waitress with a menu. Coffee to drink while I pondered the large menu. Lot of daily specials. I decided on the half order of biscuit and gravy, two eggs, hash browns, two sausage links for 7 dollars and some change. Coffee is less than 2 bucks. Dollar eighty or so. I liked that all of the condiments are on the table and also Frank's hot sauce. Don't have to keep asking for this and that. Coffee cups are a little on the small size, but are kept filled. I would like tables to have extra napkins, but seems like more and more restaurants have gotten away from them. The napkins they do have are small and very thin these days. My scrambled eggs were prepared just right as was the hash browns. I'm not normally a fan of link sausage, but these were very tasty and cooked just right. Wasn't disappointed. Can't really comment on the biscuit, since it was covered in white gravy. The gravy in my opinion was so so. Just the run of the mill sort of gravy with no sausage bits mixed in. I have yet to find any hometown restaurant that can make gravy that comes close to what Cracker Barrel makes and my second choice Bob Evans. I haven't found others to care much about their gravy and or biscuits which is sad to me. Great biscuits and gravy is a huge draw for me. All of this being said I sure do intend on dinning here again when I'm in the area. I highly recommend this popular local dinning experience for some home...
Read moreThis is my first time eating at Washington Family Restaurant. I just happened to be in the area so I figured I would be my family there for lunch after church on sunday. There were a lot of people here, they seem to be a very popular place. We had to wait for a few minutes by the door when we walked in but it also looked like the amount of people that walked in was also the amount of tables that they had open so everybody got seated right away. For my drink I ordered coffee and I use the hazelnut creamer honestly I don't always like restaurant coffee but this coffee actually tasted great, I even had a second cup! We ordered the mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. It came with marinara and ranch, I thought they were pretty good and they had a very successful cheese pull! I specifically like the meat sauce that was served with the cheese sticks. For our main meals, I ordered the country breakfast, my husband ordered a meat skillet, and my son ordered the homemade chicken strips. The chicken strips came with a bowl of chicken and rice soup which tasted great, he liked it a lot. My husband ended up getting a bowl too. All of the food was hot and freshly made and I really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy! I'm not sure if they were homemade but they really were great! Are waitress Lisa was really friendly I really enjoyed talking to her. Ended up finding out that my husband used to be friends with her brother as they were growing up, small world! She said that she had been working there for 18 years, such a long time but she clearly knows how to get the job done, she was a great waitress! We just may have to come back and visit soon so we can try something else...
Read moreI really can not give a 5 star. Even though this restaurant really can be there. But there are some things that need to be addressed. I personally feel that our waitress was stretched very thin. Even though she was extremely professional. She seemed a little overwhelmed. The restaurant looked nice but not very spacious, and it was very warm inside. The food was typical diner quality but not a "wow" factor. Please keep in mind that we ate at a late lunchtime. I feel that with a few changes, this place can be 5 stars. I want to give an updated review. I have been here now 3 times. I'm trying to look for good things, I promise. We got there this evening, and hardly anyone was there. We had a waitress take our drink order, and then she walked away. Less than a minute later, another waitress walks up and starts to talk are drink order. We asked about the other waitress, and it was stated that she was busy. There were only two other tables that had people, hmmm, not sure. Anyways, our order got...
