Gina Marie Bakery — Restaurant in Waterbury

This bakery is wonderful. I called on a Wednesday afternoon to ask if they could make a tiramisu birthday cake for my boyfriends 30th birthday on Friday. I called EVERY SINGLE bakery in the area (I'm in Northfield area) including Bristol, Southington, Farmington, Danbury, and Avon. I'm awful to wait last minute to order a specialty cake and i was about to give up and get an ice cream cake but I called them and they seriously came through. They called me right back and asked me what I wanted written on the cake and what size I wanted. The cake I ordered was a 9 inch square deliciously fresh tiramisu cake that was a lot bigger than I expected. Everyone loved it, I'm actually eating a piece right now. When I went to go pick it up I took my daughter and she loved the shop and the woman who rang me up. They were very kind both on the phone and in person and the woman was very sweet to my daughter and gave her a delicious cookie. They have so many different things I had to pick up some voldka cream sauce which I loved and am definitely going back very soon to get some pasta and pizza dough. Cake was not expensive and even if it were twice the price it would still be a better price point and better tasting than sweet maria's or any other bakery in the area. Never been to the bakery, my wife purchases these cookies, probably at Big Y in Naugatuck. Sticker sais she paid $7.99 for this package, I will tell you they were just "OK". Trying to figure out what is missing or just not right with the taste, and I see the ingredient list and nowhere in there does it say butter? It sais, "artificial butter flavor, and emulsified soybean oil!" Yuk, that's what's wrong, at least put some butter in these cookies! I'm not one for a bad review, but just disappointed with what I have here 😕. I'm not sure if it's 2 for $7.99, but regardless didnt like them. Was thinking it was going to be a rich buttery treat with my fresh brewed cup of coffee, no...... it...

They make the best taralli! And they make many different varieties of taralli. My favorite are the ones with fennel. But they also have red pepper, pepper. There are so many varieties I can't remember them all. Some have a sugar frosting. I eat them like that but they go great with a beer or a glass of wine. And they go even better while watching the New York Yankees or the St. Louis Cardinals...
