Jstax Jamaican Cuisine — Restaurant in Waterbury

I stopped in on January 6 since I was in the area and craving Jamaican food. The place was empty. I was met by man/woman couldn’t tell but looked lesbian. This person didn’t smile or greet me. I asked for two beef patties and cocoa bread. This person proceeded to get cocoa bread from a plastic grocery bag. I never seen that. All places I’ve been to they made their own fresh cocoa bread. This person put everything in one bag. I politely asked for another bag since one order was for me and the other I was gonna bring to my fiancée at his job. This person proceeded to tell me, “ We only give one bag”. I explained I was gonna bring one of them to my fiancée at work. Then gave me another. As I drove off and checked my bag, I noticed I only got one cocoa bread and two patties. Wasn’t too happy with that but I was already too far. I bit into the beef patty with the cocoa bread and I was immediately grossed out. The beef patty had no flavor whatsoever and no spice . I’ve had plenty in CT and this was the worst one I ever had. I immediately spit it out. The cocoa bread was obviously not fresh. I wasted my money. If the service didn’t suck so bad, I would have gave them another try and tried something else. When youre a caribbean person, you know what dishes should taste like. I paid $43 for two large dishes of oxtails with cabbage and white rice/mac and cheese. They did not have rice and peas today. You know oxtails takes long to cook if you dont use a pressure cooker so why bother to sell them if they're not ready? They had no flavor at all. So it wasnt marinaded and was cooked from when they opened, so not long enough. The macaroni and cheese was exactly that. With cheese melted on top in the oven. Not baked mac nor macaroni pie. The food is flavored well my only problem was the portion size and how much I paid. I ordered one medium jerk chicken and one large fried chicken to split amongst three people. If I received one leg quarter cut up in my medium I feel I should have received if even a little more meat im my large dish. So basically a large is just filing up the container with rice small amounts of veggies and the same amount of chicken as a medium or small. Way too much rice and not enough of the meat or veggies.
