I had previously purchased a mattress and box spring set from Raymour & Flannigan. Initially the set cost me over $1000 and I was set to have it delivered this past Wednesday. Due to a family emergency I had to move the delivery date and asked that we change it from Wedneaday to Friday. They told me no can do...earliest was going to be the 20th which would be tomorrow. They called me today to say my mattress never arrived so it will not be delivered tomorrow.....well it was all set to come to me last week. That tells me that they sold my mattress. To make matters worse they didnt even have an estimate for when I would get it. I promptly cancelled that order and headed over to Mattress Firm. I called the Waterbury store and spoke with Chris who was honestly the most helpful person. We did most of the transaction over the phone and the whole process only took a few minutes. Not only was Chris able to get me a better deal which ended up being less than the $1000+ I was originally going to spend, he was able to offer me a better warranty, and Mattress Firm has a refund/return policy that Raymour and flannigan doesn't have. After a couple of hours exploring possibilities made a decision for the Serta Iseries with adjustable base. Transaction became cumbersome due to the credit process, after all 5 years no interest is a good deal. Company does price match - went home did more research and made an inquiry received a lower price and reduced delivery. Went back to the store to swap the base and get the credit to account. Not that simple - had to cancel original order and redo entire purchase. {note to self - when redoing purchase it will not recognize original discounts and it itemizes discount vs straight credit} this is a way to keep the customer confused and gives the illusion that all discounts are applied. One issue I came across is after sale they provide additional credits but must be used either in store or online (online you only get 50% of the credit) One has to return to store to claim credit. This is very cumbersome and not consumer friendly and inconvenient. He is absolutely amazing and the best manager we have ever worked with at any store. He took excellent care of our three kids and very efficiently had their mattresses shipped across the country to where they were moving. He gave them great deals and they were so pleased. We make sure we shop only when Gerald is working. Just this week my husband and I bought a high end mattress and adjustable base. We are THRILLED!
