Bambinos Bakery — Restaurant in Waterloo

I’ve heard really great things about Bambino’s so I wanted to order a custom cake for an anniversary. I am slightly disappointed in my experience. I came in person to the store to order. The girl taking the order was young and didn’t seem informed about the products and procedures. Knowing from friends that they offered this style of cake, I ordered a sage green vintage-inspired heart shaped cake, and even referenced the images they had on their own website of it. I asked for “Happy 1st Anniversary” to be piped on. I asked the worker how much it would be and she told me she didn’t know. When I picked up the cake a couple weeks later, it was not what I asked for. It was a round cake with pearl sprinkles, flowers, and a cake topper that said “Happy Anniversary.” I didn’t mention sprinkles or flowers at all. When I told the worker who handed it off it was not right she had showed me the order slip the first girl had made and it was understandable that the decorator was not given enough information to work with. The order slip barely had anything written on it. Instead of writing that I wanted a “heart shaped vintage cake” like I said the worker wrote just the word “smallest” with a heart next to it. It was not specified that I wanted the writing on the cake to be frosting so I was given the cake topper. And I’m sure the sprinkles and flowers were just decorating choices, which is fine. It’s very clear there was a major lack of communication between the person who took my order and the person who made it, which is disappointing because I really wanted to love it. I’m not sure why I wasn’t contacted if there was any question about what I wanted, I just feel like some corners were cut with my order and that sucks. That being said, it’s still really well done and I’m sure it’ll taste great but i’m not thrilled about the experience or having to pay $55 for the wrong cake, which I still needed. In the future, I’ll probably skip coming in store to order and just use their order form on the website and write my own description; I’d like to try them out again but get...

Anyone who knows me knows that I love my sweets. I can honestly say these were the best cookies and cupcakes I’ve ever had! I ordered these for my son’s first birthday and everyone at the party kept asking where I got them from, because they were so dang good! There was a very minor (4 cookies) mistake with my order, and I am someone who doesn’t like to complain about things like that, but I kindly let them know and they surprised me with what they did to “make things right”. Instead of a small refund or even just making the 4 cookies, they made me 24 new cookies and delivered them to me at 7am(the morning of the party), even with me living 50 minutes away!! They also added a few other sweet treats along with the new order they delivered to me, and they were absolutely delicious. That was the best customer service I have ever experienced! I am grateful for their hard work and kindness at this bakery and will definitely be a lifelong...

Love Bambinos! All of their desserts so far have been delicious that I have tried. I love that I can just stop in and buy something from their dessert case on a whim! Their cakes are phenomenal and seriously so delicious. I have purchased a few of their cakes for cake smashes and each one has been exceptional. Not only are they beautiful cakes, they will be some of the most delicious you've had! I have also ordered some of their custom cookies which were Halloween/bridal party themed and they were so cute AND they were also so yummy. Bambinos customer service has been nothing short of amazing every time I order anything or stop in to buy something. I will recommend them...
