Sweet Talkin Treats — Restaurant in Watertown

I placed my first ever custom cake order for a surprise golden birthday party for my boyfriend. I gave just general ideas I had, nothing super specific besides color scheme and what I wanted written on it. The cake itself was beautiful! The only reason I am not posting photos is because, at zero fault of the bakery, we messed up some of the writing before I could get a picture, and I didn't want that to reflect on the business at all, it 100% was not on them. The cakes were delicious, and exactly what I wanted. He LOVED the red velvet. My only little bit of criticism is that I ordered to pick up at 11, and watched the gentleman writing my order up, write 10 as the ready time. I assumed that would allow some grace time just in case they were behind, super great idea. I was disappointed to get there at 11, and be told that my cake was, in fact, not ready yet. The gentleman was super kind about it, and apologized. It was done and in my car by 11:20, though. 20 minutes really isn't that big of a deal, most days. but I was unfortunately not prepared for that wait yesterday, and that was my own fault. My only bit of feedback would be maybe to just give people a call if you're running late? I completely understand that things happen, but it definitely would have saved frustration on my end if I had just gotten a little "hey, we're behind today, your cake will be ready at __ time", and I could have worked some other things around it. I’m guessing the only reason people hype this place up to be amazing is because they know plenty of people in the community, that want to make sure that this young couple succeeds? IDK but their bakery is not worth to stop or the money. The people that own this business are amazing! They’re decorating and piping skills around point. The place of business is always clean, they are always honest about being able to fill in order within the timeframe and amount you need. The scones are barely edible. No flavor no sweetness, not soft, not crumbly and they are Dry! Muffins lack flavor and are borderline dry just like the cake and cupcakes. The cookies are inconsistent and crumbly in the wrong way. It’s horrible to have to leave such a negative review. There is always room to grow and improve though. I hope people actually start being honest to help them cultivate better products. What they offer right now, isn’t it. Maybe their product was really great when they first opened but if that’s the case, they have lost their “wow” factor! *To the owners: Please change your recipes, flour, and process/time allotment to create better products. Sweet Talkin’ Treats catered our wedding desserts and cake, and we and our guests loved it all! Everything was such a huge hit that we barely had any leftovers. They have such a variety of fun flavors (our favorite being the cookie dough cupcakes) yet the flavors are definitely so quality and the presentation of the desserts was classy and not cheesy at all. Our dessert tasting before our wedding was super fun! They had everything set up and ready for us when we got there, which made it such a fun date. Everyone we worked with (mostly Hannah) was friendly and professional. They helped us figure out the total quantity of all the desserts we wanted at our wedding based off our guest count, which was super helpful since we had no idea how much to get!
