Let me start out by saying that if I had known this was it's opening day I would have waited a few weeks to try them out. I was happy to have a new diverse place to eat here, but sadly they did not do so well on their first night. I waited an hour and half for my dish for take out. I ordered the pad see ewe. The chicken was good and tender, but it lacked the egg and onions. Also some of the noodles were stuck together so some of them were like a noodle ball. No seasoning was detected. I ordered medium spicy and there wasn't any spice at all to it. My portion size was lacking as well, it seemed more like a lunch portion size than a supper one that cost more than lunch. Most people waiting were very gracious and understanding. I would suggest that if you are going to comp someone's order within earshot of customers you just don't randomly pick people to offer that to as others who have waiting might be put off by that. I would also suggest that if people had been waiting a long time to at least offer tea or soda or coffee as a way to smooth over the wait. Offering a comp dessert would have helped out as well. Take a look at what the Athen's Thai places are doing and their portion sizes and have yourself stick out from them. Athens is not far and if you can't have yourself stick out from them then I think people will just go there. The online ordering I think is still work in progress, I checked the site and very limited menu options to order from. A heard a few people wanting to order online and if you can get that up and running well it will be a hit as people will order and then come and pick up. Lastly, I know it was first night and I know you would have wished it would have went smoother, but training training and more training before hand would have been good. I saw reviews that give higher marks, but I guess they went for lunch and it was smoother then. I will try back in a few weeks again to see if things have improved and if not then I will just go to places in Athens. If this place had been open for a while longer I would have given one star, but gave 2 since opening night and know there are kinks that would need to...
Read moreI wanted a very quickly put up a negative review because I had an incredibly awful experience at this restaurant today. I'm going to expand this in a little bit with details but I have to whittle the review down because I'm using too many characters for Google's 4000 character limit. I just don't have time right now. But I will say this, I went to lunch with a friend I'd not seen in four and a half years and I have not been out to lunch for the entirety of my trip to Athens Georgia for three weeks because I've been ill with bronchitis, and I have Celiac, and the entire meal was an unmitigated disaster, I was sent larger portions than I asked for an upcharge for them, I was charged for extras that were not worth the price, my pad thai with spicy without my request for spice and my coconut soup was not spicy. The waitress did not ask for any details in the order, took 5 minutes to make a very small order an electronic device, told me she would have to rewrite it by hand and then communicated verbally to the kitchen, and my food came out completely out of order. There were several things that I had repeatedly asked her for that she did not bring out. And when I tried to talk to the owner about the problems, the waitress came by to give me a what for. I literally had to tell her I was not going to speak with her at ghst time.
The time before that we ate at this restaurant we found foreign objects in the rice. I returned the entire meal in the owner made me ask for a refund instead of offering me one. I think she thought I was trying to steal food both times it is beneath me to go into a restaurant and eat food and not pay for it. However, I'm not paying for dishes that were not prepared the way I ordered them and I'm not paying for lunch when it is constantly interrupted by an inept waitress.
Just don't go. They know how to make good food but they don't know how to serve it and there wait staff needs a good education. With the exception of Nathaniel who's an excellent waiter and whom I wish we had had at...
Read moreExcellent take-out food - after the pandemic will see how it is for dine-in but food quality is very good. I don't know these folks but I'm glad to have a Thai option near the house. They opened yesterday, and the opening day reports were that dinner service was quite slow so I called right when they opened for lunch and they had my food curb-side twenty minutes later. I'll be trying them from time to time over the next few months and will re-visit my star rating if they don't keep a generally high level of service but will intentionally be avoiding peak times until they have the first few weeks under their belt as I'm only interested in what will be the standard level of service, not their ability to launch a new restaurant. I am not a vegetarian but love pungent and they had a garlic-centric dish with tofu as the suggested accompaniment and it really hit the spot - delightfully tasteful and left reeking of garlic - love it. I asked for a proper hot - they suggest 3/5 hotness stars and it was right on the money - leaves your mouth slightly warm 10 minutes later and corresponds to my experience with 'normal hot' at restaurants catering to Thai expats. My wife had mild pad see ewe and said it was equally as good as their competition in the...
