I have mixed opinions about this cafe. I love cat cafes, but more than any other, this one had me wondering if they are ethical institutions.
Nice features: There was a cat-only area where they could escape, and the kittens were separated from adult cats. The gift shop is nice, the price is decent, parking is good⦠the setup was great, lots of toys and a variety of spaces for cats to play. One of the bigger cafes Iāve seen, and wonderful use of vertical space.
However, overall I just felt like it wasnāt the most healthy environment for cats. Usually cat cafes are a place where you can meet a cat while considering it for adoption. This felt a lot more like a petting zoo. It was nigh impossible to find out catsā names, gender, age, etc. as this information was only displayed on a slideshow screen. A flipbook might be nicer for skimming? I also didnāt love the kitten room, it was good they were separated and only 2 people were allowed at a time, but the kittens were very small! I donāt think they should be handled that much or maybe at all? I saw some children picking them up carelessly, which made me realize no one had been told any rules of handling the cats. There was a sign with some rules, but as I recall we werenāt told any specific rules of conduct.
There were also just too many people in the space at once; I went at the last hour of the day, but the cats seemed exhausted and overstimulated. We were given a cup of whipped cream as a treat to entice the cats, but dairy and sugar isnāt healthy for pets, especially from so many people!
Basically, the set up is really promising, and the place could be fantastic. But the way the cat/customer interaction is managed makes it feel kind of exploitative of the kitties. There was no emphasis on adoption or good care, and instead functioned as a spot to pet a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is our second time visiting the Entangled Cat Cafe and we had the best experience. My daughter and I took a few hours yesterday for a Mommy & Me day date and since she absolutely adores cats, this is the most perfect place to go. The environment is adorable, easy to make reservations online and from the moment you walk in, the staff is incredibly friendly. They explain everything to you and introduce you to all the kitties that are available to hang out with, along with their personalities which is important and impressive as they get to know the cats really well. The last time we were there (earlier last summer) they had a lot of kittens and that was a great surprise for us. Yesterday they had 2 little kitten siblings to play with which was so sweet as I wasnāt sure what to expect when we arrived. I had told my daughter there may or may not be any kittens. The place is VERY clean and the staff does a great job at maintaining that. You can tell they really work hard at keeping it as fresh as they can with all the cats in one building! Itās such relaxing vibe and my daughter and I really enjoyed ourselves. All of the cats are so sweet and playful, cuddly and friendly. The ones that prefer to have more space have the option to go into their own cubbies or areas so I love that thereās plenty of room for all the kitties to spread out and play, nap, wander, etc. I think this business is such a genius idea. They also have a very cute gift shop area and even have a mini cafe with snacks. We love supporting this business and that you can adopt these cats and provide them a fur-ever home. They do great work not just for the cats, but thereās just something therapeutic about being able to go and spend some time with a snuggly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNot sure why the woman at the front desk felt she had the right to judge how well someone can take care of their children but she put a damper on our day. We did not have a reservation but it was a Monday morning and only one other group of 3 people were at the cafe at the same time as us. I entered with my two children and infant, and was told they only allow groups with adults for every two children minor-aged. I pointed out that my infant is attached to my hip and couldn't walk around or interact with the cats. The woman proceeded to emphasize that she thought I would find it challenging to watch my children because there are 3 rooms and they may run off and chase a cat. I suggested that my children would stay in the same room as me, I got their acknowledgement in front of the woman, and she continued to assure me I would find it challenging. They were both standing very quietly waiting to find out if we could visit with the cats and not acting poorly behaved. I pointed out we would be very disappointed and she did not care. The lack of compassion and support of families with children was off-putting. Maybe it was because we didn't have a reservation? I'm not sure why we were met with hostility but we will not return. Warning for other mothers hoping to help some animals and spread joy for their children, this is not the...
