The customer service from the owner of this establishment saddens me. Around 4 years ago I signed a contract to consign my $1400 unused wedding dress at Dover Grace. They took my email and phone number and assured me I would receive an email when it was time to renew my contract. For the first couple of years I would receive an email a couple of weeks prior to my contract expiration that it was time to renew, I would pay the fee and renew. Recently I went in to pick up my dress off of consignment and was told my contract had expired in 2020 and they tried to contact me. Fortunately I save all of my emails from Dover Grace in an important file on my email every time I receive one, I have not received a phone call and/or an email as a courtesy to let me know my contract was up for renewal. I take responsibility for not calling sooner to see why I haven’t had any contact with them. However, with that being said I was bluntly told that they do not “do consignment” and are not in possession of the dress any longer. That it was my responsibility to come pick up the dress. So let me get this straight.. as a business owner she did not take it upon herself to contact her customers (especially consignees) to let them be aware of a policy change? She stated that was not her problem, that is was my fault. She unfortunately was very rude and did not take responsibility for not informing her customers of a change in the business just decided to keep their possessions without giving them the option of renewal, pick up or donation. I was then informed they do not have my dress and that is was donated even though they “contacted me” to let me know which is completely false. I truly hate this for any consignees that have signed contracts through this business. Good news, they are closing in April so fingers crossed this will not happen to anyone in the future especially anyone elderly that would not be in full understanding of...

In a word, the business practices of the proprietor here at Dover Grace is DECEPTION. Last Fall I spoke directly with Frances Gibson, the owner of Dover Grace concerning a flower girl dress for consignment. She told me she would, in fact, be happy to consign the dress if I wait until wedding season. When I “consigned” the dress in February of this year, she kept possession of not only this dress but two other mother-of-the-bride dresses as well. This month (May) my husband and I picked up the dresses that were actually stored in a back room inaccessible to customers. During the three months Ms. Frances Gibson held onto the three dresses, under the guise of consignment, my friends and I entered this said retail store more than a half dozen times. None of my “consigned” dresses were in sight. The week prior to picking up the dresses, I’d entered the Dover Grace shop asking to see consignment merchandise. The proprietor told me point blank “we don’t sell consignments”. Basically, I’d been lied to all along. Now, the wedding season is behind me. Not only wedding season, but also prom and Perfectly Polished events, etc; all the need for dresses such as mine occurs in the first six months of the year, basically. This is by far the best bridal boutique I have ever been to. Hands down the best alteration services on both of my gowns (that were not purchased in their store, but if I had known about this store before my purchases I would have bought here) for my sons wedding and wedding rehearsal dinner. They have the ability to make a woman feel beautiful in the dresses they have purchased and the alterations are made to accentuate your best features. I also had a last minute change on my rehearsal dinner dress and they fit me in their busy schedule. If you are looking for dresses or gowns that are different from the ordinary norm of retail stores start here!! There is a wide variety of merchandise. Alterations done in a very timely manner with great accuracy and attention to detail. They have the ability to make you feel beautiful and confident. My experience was a hands down incredible.
