I would give them 4 or 5 stars but the service was horrible. My friends and I went to dine in there this morning but we had a very bad experience with the lady that served us. She was so rude, we were trying to check her name tag but she wasn’t wearing any. We also checked our receipts usually it will tell you the name of your server . It was supposed to be a celebration for our dear friend that had recently passed her NCLEX-RN examination but it turned out to be a horrible celebratory brunch. A second we sat down she didn’t even introduce herself, one of my friend was still telling her she would like to have hot cocoa but she was already walking away. My friends went to use their facilities before starting to order and she was asking me if I knew what they order was. Next we were barely sipping on our drinks & starting on our meals and she was already asking if we will split the bill or just one check. Third, we were still in the middle of enjoying the food not even close to finishing and she was already asking if we needed some to-go boxes. I would understand if there were a lot of people that were waiting to be sat down but nope that was not the case. And we were not rude towards her either, we didn’t demand for this and that we were just there to have some good brunch and celebrate! She made us feel uncomfortable that we didn’t even try to finish our food coz she was trying to make us leave the place. She was nice to other customers, maybe because we were minorities like her!? We were treated very rudely and we are not even from Watsonville! It’s not like we were rude customers, loud, distractive or disrespectful! Never again we would dine in this place, food is good but service is very rude! Be nice to others especially it’s holidays! My good friend was going to give her a $20 tip coz we know how to hard it is to make a living we are hard working Nurses ourselves! I just don’t get other people sometimes no matter how nice you are there will always be people that are mean and rude! I just hope she doesn’t do this to...
Read moreI had lived in watsonville my whole life so I am very familiar with the California Grill I used to know the owner Ray who is no longer the owner I found out, I stopped by recently to have a drink it was packed I believe it was on a Friday and there was nowhere to sit but they found me a little table under the TV in the corner, I was fine with that because I could absorb the atmosphere from anywhere in the room, seem like people were having a very good time having long and loud and comfortable conversations snacking on appetizers there was this one man at the bar I could not get over how he was enjoying his appetizers I was just thinking to myself if I could afford something right now I would order a whole dinner. The only reason that I gave it four Stars and not five is because the bartender did not know the drink that I asked for, we had a conversation about it and I ended up ordering a different drink that I knew that she would know however I just stopped in Wonder couldn't she have easily just gone on the internet and found out what that drink was and made it for me? That is a good example how the internet can be handy at anytime for anyting, also I wonder if they still have bands because they used to have bands sometimes on the weekends I used to go and sing with them sometimes also, I used to model for them also, I wonder if they still do the clothing auction they used to have someone come in with some really nice outfits women's outfits and model them and you could buy them by auctioni all in all the California Grill is just as beautiful and inviting as ever, for me it's just that the way that things are these days they are so tight I am having a hard enough time trying to make sure that I have enough groceries to last me for the month so I can't afford taking myself out to eat anywhere not even to Jack in The box but boy I sure would love to go to California Grill and have me a nice dinner their food is delicious I do remember...
Read moreOur dear friend chose this establishment for her birthday dinner. We kept questioning if we were in the right spot because it did not look like a typical restaurant building. But walk down those steps and you are transformed from medical facility to great dining experience. Being a Saturday night, they were quite busy, which is a great sign. The hostess was so friendly and guided us to the bar where we could wait and possibly snag a table. After a very strange run in with an older female bartender telling us to move and then move again and “you can’t sit there” vibe, we actually found a table! We had a fantastic server (wish I could remember his name) and wait staff! Drinks were unique, fun and valuable (not $15 for two sips). I would come back merely for the salads. Fresh beets on the dinner salad is just next level. Ask for blue cheese crumbles 😉 The fresh baked bread is amazing. I loved that there was a variety of entree options to need everyone’s needs. I toyed with just ordering appetizer because they looked great. But the table decided on fried artichoke hearts and they were wonderfully crispy and plentiful. Everyone’s entrees were fabulous, huge and thoroughly enjoyed. The lasagna looked authentic. My husband’s seafood platter was fresh and crisp. The pasta looked like more veggie/protein components than pasta. 😍 And I wanted to lick the lemon chicken sauce off the plate! I loved having a polenta side and the veggies were cooked perfectly. The bar was loud, but in a “local hangout-seeing friends kinda vibe”. We will definitely...
