I can finally go somewhere in Waukee that isn’t Dunkin or Starbucks, and it’s somewhere really good. I love that they change up their seasonal drink offerings pretty frequently, and I also like their food selection. They’ve improved their espresso a lot since they opened, and they sell more take-home roasts and beans than they used to. The only issue is that the staff mostly seems like a bunch of high schoolers that don’t take it seriously, and like 1 or 2 folks that really care and know what they’re doing. That leads to a bit of variation in service and drink quality, but the food and atmosphere are always good. I have a remote job, so it’s important for me to find places that I can work to get out of the house, and this is so close to my house. It’s the perfect setup. It’s usually quiet enough to get some work done, and it doesn’t feel cramped if you sit at a table with your laptop. Their wi-fi is also fast enough for really anything you’d need to do. Definitely recommend this place for coffee, breakfast food, and working remotely if you need any of that in the...
Read moreI'm disappointed to be writing a review like this on such a great place. I have been going to the coffee smith for the past couple of years and today was a different experience. I ordered three croissant sandwich's and waited for 25 minutes and they were never brought out. At this time the place wasn't as busy either. i went up at the 25 mark and said something to this kind worker, and unfortunately one of the other workers made a comment "it wasn't that long ago." It was exactly 25 minutes because it said on my phone when i made the payment. It felt rude and unnecessary. I waited in total 35 minutes to get my order fulfilled. I am a patient person and understand circumstances since i used to work at a high paced food oriented company. I even tipped knowing the service is wonderful, but today changed my perspective a bit. It was one disappointing experience and i understand off days, but understand that one day doesn't necessarily change how amazing the food is and cozy they...
Read moreI generally go to Starbucks as a former barista but wanted to support local and try something new today. When I walked in and went up to the counter the cashier was on her personal phone and did not say anything to me or notice I was there until I said hello. I then ordered a cold brew and a muffin (which are good, no complaints). She took my order, I paid and tipped and thanked her. She then walked away from the counter and it did not appear that she told the barista what my order was because I sat there for 10 minutes while numerous other customers who ordered after me got their drinks. Finally the barista asked me if I was waiting and I told her I was waiting for a cold brew. She then made it immediately and gave it to me which leads me to believe she just wasn’t told about my order. The barista apologized for the wait. This customer experience did not leave me with the warm and fuzzies or a strong desire...
