I have been a Starbucks customer since the early 1980s when Starbucks first hit the market. Unfortunately, in the last 10 years, I have watched a slow decline in Starbucks. A hallmark of the Starbucks coffee chain was not only its coffee but the inviting atmosphere in which to drink the coffee. It is the atmosphere that has drastically declined over the past 10 years. No longer are the warm easy chair to read and sip coffee. No longer are the booths to sit with friends to have a warm brew together. It seems like the only thing left are the hard wooden chairs and very small places to drink your coffee. This Starbucks has stooped to this level of decor.
Since introducing food into their menu, I think was a big mistake. To put it bluntly, the food is horrible. It is all prepackaged and warmed in a microwave. Being prepackaged, it has a plastic-type flavor with tons of fat salt, and sugar. Very unappetizing to me. I no longer order any of their packaged food and I think it is something you could do without as well.
However, the coffee continues to be excellent as does the bakery. I just seem like it takes forever to be waited on and when the order is taken, It takes forever to be served.
I am not sure why I still go to this Starbucks or any other Starbucks. The chain still charges outrageous prices for their cups of coffee. Originally, I thought that was because Starbucks had fare share coffee. And I thought some of the high prices of coffee went to giving their workers a higher than minimum wage and benefits.
Well, I longer know what the company's coffee-buying practices are. The barista"s tell me that they work for just over minimum wage with no benefits.
The grade I would give this Starbucks is a middle ground to poor. The atmosphere is mediocre. The food, other than its bakery is horrible. The service is poor. About the only thing this Starbucks has going for it is its famous very high-priced coffee. That is if you are willing to take your time to be waited on and...
Read moreThe cafe is always closed, but on the door there's a sign stating "our store is open for you" or something like that with the doors locked. I always order with the Starbucks app so I can just grab and go on my way, but am always forced to go through the extremely long drive-thru line because I've already paid for my coffee which is cold by the time I get it. I've given them many chances as this is the most convenient location for me when I have appointments nearby, and gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe it was a temporary issue for some reason, but it's obvious this is not the case as the cafe has never been open once since I've been getting my coffee there. I assume they don't open the cafe because they don't feel like cleaning up after guests, which is part of the job. If that's the case they should seriously find jobs outside of food service because it's obvious they don't like their jobs. They're just one step away from refusing to make coffee and food because they just plain don't feel like it. Worst Starbucks location ever, and I will not be back, I'll just get my coffee from Kwik Trip where I know it will be...
Read moreSimilar to what clay said, I too am not pleased with the not so friendly attitude of the "older woman", Jean at the window. Didn't say hello, or tell me my total, just stuck her hand out for me to pay. I'm not blind to the fact that she is also taking orders too with the headset but it didn't appear she was at the moment I drove up. No goodbye, not even a smile. Starbucks is not supposed to be that kind of atmosphere. It's really off putting and just not giving good experiences with her at the window being that franchise's "face". Maybe she could do a different job if the friendly factor isn't quite fitting for her window job. I'm not there to make friends of course, but if consumers are wanted to continue buying the product, friendly faces ensure that they will.
However, despite wishing someone else had been at her post this morning, my drink was perfect. Made just right, and heated extra warm. The wait was a wait, but it was purposefully and smoothly moving...
