I want to remind Ellis County of a GEM we have located right in downtown Waxahachie. If you know me, you already know how much I love Two Amigos!
Two Amigos is located at 241 S Monroe St, on the west side of downtown. They are open Monday-Saturday from 7a-9p and Sunday 8a-3p. They have been a staple for breakfast to anyone working near downtown for almost 20 years. From breakfast burritos as big as grown man’s forearm to enchiladas that will make you question every other enchilada you’ve ever tried, Two Amigos brings their A Game when it comes to authentic home cooked Mexican food.
This week I met a good friend for lunch at Two Amigos. My choice for lunch consists of two go-to meals. I either get the combo #2 (which I did this time) or the 3 Taco special. Both are excellent choices but I went for the enchiladas this time.
As you walk in to Two Amigos you will notice a HUGE glass window providing a window seat to the action going on in the kitchen. I personally like this and it was carried over from the close atmosphere in the original location. The new location, almost 3 years old now is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Unfortunately for the Aguilar Family, they are right smack dab in the middle of the road construction project currently taking place downtown. We will talk more on that later. You will find large, clean bathrooms and seating that has been adequately spaced for social distancing. I noticed that all of the staff were wearing masks and hand sanitizer was available at the front door.
I started my meal with their homemade chips and salsa. I prefer the red salsa but most of my friends prefer the salsa verde. I also ordered some queso which was excellent as always.
Our meals came out quickly and were fresh and hot. My friend ordered the Carne Guisada which looked amazing. I have had it before as well and I was feeling a bit jealous when I saw his food. Then my combo #2 showed up and all was right in the world. Three large enchiladas, one beef, one cheese and one chicken with rice and beans and a side of tortillas. The angles spoke and the heavens opened up, I’m pretty sure those tortillas are the manna provided from above. Honestly it’s more food than one person should eat, but momma didn’t raise a quitter. I did my best and I don’t regret it one bit.
As our meals were winding down the waitress brought me my usual Togo tea. Since I was working that day, it was nice to have a large glass of tea to take with me.
Now, about that construction downtown. It’s awful. It really is. It makes parking for Two Amigos a nightmare but it’s is WORTH IT! Honestly, they are struggling. Between the construction and Covid Two Amigos has lost a lot of business. If we don’t want to lose this amazing food and family, we need to get out and eat with them. They do offer take out if you don’t want to go in. They also offer delivery they GrubHub. So get together with your friends and place an order or go eat there this week. Share your pictures with me. I want to see...
Read moreThe first time I came to Two Amigos, I walked in and ordered a Togo order (Three chorizo and egg breakfast burritos with bacon added.). After patiently waiting outside on the bench for 30mins, I came back inside and asked if my order was ready. They had not entered the order. I patiently waited another 20mins until the order was completed. I paid and my family had the burritos for lunch. I figured I'd give Two Amigos another chance, maybe they were just busy.
Today I tried again, but instead of walking in to order ToGo I called ahead, trying to save time instead of possibly waiting. I have a short lunch break and so does my partner, so we were going to try and not waste time. Same order this time, but only two with Avocado added. I waited the recommended 20mins, and then drove over with my partner to pick up the burritos. (10mins to get there) They were not ready. (After 30mins) I waited for ANYONE to acknowledge my presence, before observing everyone working ignoring a ringing phone.
I had to leave because my partner's lunch break was going to be over soon. Wasted, with no food. I felt terrible for wasting her time, all she wanted was something delicious and she didn't want me to use my own break cooking for her. After taking her home, I came back to so if the food was ready.
They said it had just finished being made and packaged (This is now 1 hour after ordering) I said, "You know, it's been an hour, you guys told me 15 minutes..." and the employee just laughed and walked away from me. When I was told it would be $16 for these two burritos we waited an hour for, wasting both of our lunch breaks, I could not bear to pay for them. I told them, they told me 15 minutes, it's been an hour, I will not be taking these, and left. I'm so disappointed.
If it is going to take an hour for the order to be ready, please just say that so we can arrive at the appropriate time. We wasted so much time today. I want to support your business, but when you waste my time and then laugh in my face, it tells me that you don't want my support.
I would much rather know it will take an hour than you tell me 15-20 for what, just so I don't hang up? This is much worse. This sucks.
I doubt we...
Read moreI give the food a five star review because it’s absolutely delicious! I have 0 complains on it on the other hand when It comes to a service review I’m giving it a 0 today just because I’ve been there with my parents before and it has never been as bad as it was today. The girl that first greeted us at the door was nice but the other girl that was serving with her which i happen to know and was our waitress gave me a look and as we were sitting down I saw her whispering something to the same girl that greeted us while still looking at me, I don’t really know if they were talking about me or not but they made it seem like they were I found it rude of them to do that but either way after that she walked past our table a few times and never handed us any menus chips and salsa or asked us if we wanted anything to drink we just sat there for at least 10 mins before she brought menus and asked for our drinks ,after bringing the drinks she left without saying anything and came back around 5min later to take our food order, my mom and I order and shared regular beef fajitas which I’ve never ordered before so I didn’t catch that it only came with 2 corn tortillas until she brought us the food out ,after that realization we asked her to bring us 4 more tortillas and some limes which she brought the limes out right away but we waited on the tortillas for a while we just patiently sat there looking to see if they would be out any time soon and when they did our server was a little to busy looking trough her phone in the front desk that she didn’t even realize they had brought them out already until my mom was about to get up to tell her she then realized and brought them to the table but right after that she never came back around to check on us ,to see if we wanted anything else, any refills ,to go boxes etc. I don’t just really understand why she gave us such bad service if the girl had a personal problem with me she could had easily denied us service in the beginning or hand us to the other girl that first greeted us idk I took the service personal today I hope next time we go this girl never serves us again she was rude and just ignoring us the whole time...
