I REALLY wanted to love this restaurant. Sadly it was not meant to be. Let's start with the best things. The crab cake was amazing. If I came in and just ordered this I would be a happy camper. Spendy but worth it. Our friends ordered the firecracker shrimp and said it was spicy but delicious. The french onion soup was good but not enough cheese. I also ordered their specialty cocktail the Marilyn Monroe. It was so tasty but dangerous as you could drink 10 they are that good. Now to the not so good. First the bread. I have never met a bread I didn't like. I'm not sure what this was if it was supposed to be savory or sweet, it had an odd crumb topping. The first bread ever I didn't finish. I got the seafood risotto. This was not risotto. It was small pieces of shrimp and tiny scallops with some undercooked rice mixed in. Not even worth of being brought home. The lobster on the top would have been better off on it's own. It was cooked well and delicious with the butter. My husband ordered ribeye. It was fatty and overcooked. The potatoes and asparagus were good, not great but saved the day. Our friends got the burgers. They looked small and sad. The fries were terrible. The side pickle was even worse. We got the corn chowder to go. Also not worth it. The waitress was friendly and attentive. The prices are high for the food quality and the drinks are spendy for what you get. I can get better for the less in Kzoo or Grand Rapids. If you want a great restaurant at the casino check out CBK. I haven't had a bad meal there yet.

Excellent experience! I read some of the other reviews and was a bit apprehensive, but decided to try it out and see what kind of experience I would have. Glad that we did! We were hoping to grab a Fig based cocktail, which sadly the waitress let us know they were out of (seasonal and they would be changing the menus soon, so had not restocked and replenished) so we got another spiced cocktail that was wonderfully balanced, but not flavors that my partner enjoyed. The waitress was fully willing to replace it without any issues and was so accommodating!! We got the 8oz filet, which came with grilled broccoli and a carrot souffle that was wonderful! The filet itself was perhaps not the greatest cut of all time, but it was seared and cooked fantastically, and was very well seasoned. I had the mixed seafood risotto which came with 2 smallish scallops, 3 large shrimp and half a lobster tail- all of which was cooked and seasoned very well. We came for my partner's birthday, and the restaurant comped our dessert (an extremely well executed vanilla creme brulee). All in all, fantastic service (the waitress was great, the GM came by to ask about the meal, even the folks clearing our tables checked in on us to see how we were doing), good food and drink, lovely ambiance. Will definitely come again!

I have mixed feelings about Schkodé (pronounced "eesh-coe-dae"). We visited for my birthday specifically because it's billed as a "chop house". I have been to multiple chop houses and this place just does not meet my expectation of a chop house. The quality of the food is just not there, neither is the atmosphere. There is a "business casual" dress code, but that was basically ignored. Because of these reasons, my expectations were just simply not met. However, the food was very good and reasonably priced. For that reason alone I will return. There steak is not quite chop house quality, but it to was very good. I would highly recommend the Jenga Fries, they are huge and very good. The homemade sauces, that are ordered separately, are excellent. I also recommend the desserts. I had the cheesecake which was only $6.00 and was also excellent! Whilei would not consider Schkodé a chop house, it is a very good restaurant and reasonably priced. I will return.

I have been coming here for years. I have always eaten a steak and up until the last few months I would have said this place was one of the best steak houses in Grand rapids area. However something has changed for the worse. I believe they have changed where they are getting their meats and All of their fine dining food. The steaks have been consistently overcooked, under seasoned if seasoned at all and tasted worse than a steak that you could get at Meijer. I am extremely sad to have to say this. I have been reluctant to leave this review hoping the place would turn itself back around. I was sadly mistaken This is been probably my sixth visit of terrible food. My wife and I actually used to come here for their crab cakes. However for some reason they have decided to put tartar sauce on the bottom with pickles in it. What they're calling an aioli sauce is mayonnaise with a hint of garlic. For the prices to be on the same lines as a Ruth Chris I would expect nothing less out of the quality of food.

I think one of the biggest disappointments is the fact that they got rid of the tomahawk and replaced it with an 80 ounce t-bone. Who would rather have a t-bone than a ribeye? The table next to me actually ordered one and the gentleman that was trying to cut it he had the steak turned on its side as if it was a slab of lamb, sawing on the thing with no success on actually cutting the steak. He actually had the steak in one hand with the other hand attempting to saw this 80 oz t-bone. The steaks definitely won this battle. I felt awful for even watching. The absolute worst part of the whole ordeal was watching this poor man attempting to put the leftover into a to-go box and Staff didn't even try to help him.

Moving on to the lobster. Supposably it's an 8 oz lobster tail. These lobster tails were not one gram over a 4 oz tail. And to top it off they were completely overcooked well well well done. I actually request ed that they did not cut my lobster tail in half on both mine and my wife's plate however they brought us out 4 half lobster tails. That wasn't the end of the world however if I am going to spend $30 on a lobster the damn thing had better be in one piece.

We both also had they're 6 oz fillet. There is no way that steak was 6 oz It may have been for before it was put on the grill. The steak without a doubt was not put on a grill there wasn't a single grill mark on it I ordered it medium rare so did my wife they came out medium well. And from my last experience I wasn't about to send it back or ask for a new steak because it took 45 minutes the last time for me to get a steak and we couldn't find our waitress to save our life this time around the entire time we were dining which also took two hours. We ordered $160 bottle of wine and the waitress never filled our glass once.

I'm very sad to say I will not be going back. I have actually dreaded leaving this review because I have loved this restaurant for so long however after 6 months of having overcooked food and the quality of the food going down and prices going up I will not...

I just recently turned 21, was excited to go to the casino with my mother and eat at Shkodé. Went on Thursday where there was a point voucher for half off a dinner, did the typical gambling, didn't win much but was excited to get a nice meal for a great price...My mother has Celiac disease, she's quite sensitive to gluten, although Steak and fish is naturally gluten free, so those aren't issues..From the second we entered, we should've turned away..Maybe 4 other people in there along with us, waitresses leaning against walls with hands in pockets, and a greeter who had no idea what gluten even was, she said to ask our server or chef..We sat down assured the waitresses would know about gluten (a massive thing when dealing with food) so my mother announces her allergy, which every restaurant we attend, especially of this "caliber" are very tentative and make sure it's good, however, she suggested that they make a pasta!!! One of the most gluten ridden dishes possible!! Right then and there we should've knew...We opted for the Salmon figuring how could they mess that up? Now I kid you not, an Applebee's Salmon had more flavor than this dish..It was quite bland although not bad..When we were finished, the waitresses asked if we'd like dessert, we then inquired are any gluten free, she "I think" and laughed..As a last kick in our face, she laughed and informed us they were the only restaurant that didn't honor the voucher...That would've been perfectly fine and worth it if the food wasn't bland, service and knowledge of staff was horrific, and if my mother didn't get violently sick from others incompetence..Horrific establishment, very surprised they're still in business, can't even touch on a gluten allergy in training for 10 minutes...Do not spend any amount of money at this establishment, try...
