I'm generally quite impressed with the quality of the food here. The service of late has been less than stellar. Staff took their time getting over to greet me and take my order. I didnt really have a defined server it seemed. I had 1 or 2 checking on me from time to time as I ate which was great although when none of them brought me my bill, even 10 minutes after finishing my meal. Puzzling. I approached counter, let them know what I had and a cashier rang me up. It was around $11. I adked her to give me $5 back and give the other $4 of my $20 bill to the waitress. The cashier told me to bring the tip back to my table and leave it there. Huh? Ok?!?! I did. Then I decided to grab my water to go. Re approached the cashier stand and was told that a water to go would be 50 ¢. Never mind. Permanently. I was coming there on average of once per two weeks. I regularly recommended this diner and have taken friends here to try "the best diner in wayne" in my eyes previously. I would love to give the benefit of the doubt on this stuff...strike it up as a once off kind of bad experience. Id say that 50cent water to go really nailed it home though. I'm all set on this place. I'll let people that I relay this experience to make up their own minds. Charging for a to-go water after purchasing a meal. Unreal. I'll take my business and my generous tipping...
Read moreThe food was okay. For instance, my tuna melt was cold. However, the true issue was the horrendous customer service from the waitresses and Danny, the manager.
Long story short, we ordered a patty melt combo which included fries and a drink. We asked for chili on the fries and that the chili be put on the side.
When we got the bill, we were charged $4.09 for a cup of chili. I explained the error to the waitress and she said that's how they charge and I would have to speak to the manager for any price adjustment.
I explained to Danny that I was overcharged $2.09 because per the menu, fries cost $2.99 and chili fries cost $4.99. I already paid $3.99 for fries and a drink so I shouldn't have been charged that much extra.
I told him that I asked for my chili on the side, not a side of chili. He then told me their prices were the best around and that's how all restaurants charge. Overall, he was rude, unprofessional, and obnoxious.
He refused to adjust my bill and kept implying that I didn't want to pay which was untrue. I kept pointing out that I respected their policy but that the the waitress should have told me up front.
He and the waitress then both asked me to pay and to get out - yes, he told me to get out. He said who was supposed to take the loss? He kept arguing with me and the situation was tense....
Read moreThis place is great. The wait staff is not only friendly, but good and attentive. Sometimes when I dine out, the waitresses are friendly but neglect their duties in order to chat it up with the customers or each other...not at this restaurant. The place is clean and the food is great, far better than any other L. George's/diner in this area and most others that aren't. If you end up eating here when they're not in the middle of a breakfast/lunch rush, you should take the opportunity to have a conversation with the cook who's name is Agron. He is one of the nicest and most hilarious people I've met. I read a comment about hair nets and gloves....this is not McDonald's dude. First of all, I've observed the cooks working in the kitchen from the lunch counter and every one of them was wearing a hat. Secondly, washing your hands as a cook is more than adequate in eliminating germs before touching food that will be cooked to temp and served hot, without sitting under a heat lamp for 4 hour like at Burger King. I guarantee you can walk into the kitchen of any five star restaurant around this country as well as the world, and find that not one single chef will have gloves on. Bottom line, great place to grab a quick and inexpensive meal in a clean and friendly...
