We stopped at this restaurant on our way back to Savannah after a long day moving our daughter out of UGA. Traveling through Augusta, we found a couple of options and decided to give this place a try — unfortunately, it turned out to be a big mistake.
To start on a positive note, we arrived a little after 8 p.m. without a reservation, and the staff promptly cleaned off a table and seated us right away. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the experience.
From there, things quickly went downhill. Despite ordering only two small plate appetizers, one Caesar salad, and a filet — with water to drink — it took nearly two hours before we left. We were repeatedly told our food was “on the way,” yet the wait was excessive, especially considering how minimal our order was. By the time the food arrived, we were very hungry and hopeful. Sadly, the quality didn’t come close to justifying either the wait or the $100 bill.
The food was bland and underwhelming — far below average, especially for the prices. My wife took a few bites and stopped eating altogether. Our daughters finished theirs but later compared it to college cafeteria food. Needless to say, none of us left satisfied. In fact, we ended up driving 20 minutes down the road to McDonald’s, which — as unbelievable as it sounds — was a better meal than what we had just paid for.
This may be a decent spot for drinks or for those with low expectations, but if you’re looking for good food and a worthwhile dining experience, I recommend continuing your drive. Unfortunately, this is one stop we won’t be making again — though, as my daughter remarked, “You don’t know what good food is until you’ve had something bad to compare it to.” This was definitely one of those memorable experiences, just not in the...

If you’re searching for a dining experience that feels like a warm embrace from start to finish, look no further than Good Day Cafe. As someone who visits Waynesboro quarterly, this gem has become my sanctuary—a place where Southern charm meets global flair, and every bite feels like a masterpiece.
The menu is a love letter to epicurean creativity, blending down-home comfort with bold, inventive twists. On day one, I savored the Seared Shrimp & Scallops—a dish so perfectly balanced, it danced between richness and freshness. Day two brought the Ribeye a succulent, flavor-packed triumph that melted like butter. And yes, the legendary Tonkatsu Pork lives up to its reputation (a must-try for first-timers!). But let’s talk dessert: their Key lime pie is nothing short of divine, with a tangy-sweet crescendo that I crave long after leaving.
Beyond the food, Good Day Cafe is an oasis. Tucked away like a well-kept secret, its cozy, eclectic ambiance invites you to unwind—a respite from the everyday hustle. The attention to detail in every dish’s plating mirrors the care they pour into the entire experience, making it feel like a true “home away from home.”
Consistently exceptional, endlessly inviting—this is more than a restaurant. It’s a destination for foodies, a haven for comfort-seekers, and a reason to fall in love with Southern hospitality all over again. I’d recommend Good Day Cafe to anyone, anytime, without hesitation Treat yourself—you’ll leave planning your next visit before you’ve even left the...
Read moreThe Good Day Café is a restaurant I never paid much attention to, and typically favored the Burke Perk due to working there as a waitress. Burke Perk's menu was super long and had over 30 dishes on one side of the menu alone. The giant portion sizes they serve cause a lot of customers to ask for to go boxes.
This café was a refreshing change after quitting my job due to the new toxic management. The menu has significantly less items, making the process of ordering less chaotic and time consuming for both the waitress and the customer. I've also found that the dishes similar to the ones on Burke Perk's menu were lighter and less overwhelming for me to eat, as a person who doesn't enjoy the giant portion sizes that Burke Perk serves.
The café is beautifully decorated and features several photography prints on the walls, along with some tasteful decorations, something the Burke Perk does not have. The atmosphere is very welcoming and almost feels like home. The waitresses are kind to the customers and seemingly to each other.
Our waitress was awesome, she was very considerate and quick to get our food to the table. We ordered the tonkatsu and a philly steak with fries. Both dishes were wonderful, and the tonkatsu was definitely a favorite. The portion sizes weren't overbearing, nor was the food too heavy. We finished off with a crème brûlée, which was the perfect amount of sweetness, and the strawberry was a very nice touch. Over all, this was a great lunch, and I can't recommend this...
