Dear TA/Petro. If you want to know why your restaurants are veritable ghost towns now, my experience today will tell you why. So started out ordering your new on the menu meat loaf. What came to me was a hard crumbly rock with cold ketchup poured on it that didn’t taste like meat at all. I literally could not swallow it. It’s obviously a prepackaged item so other than the cold ketchup, the cook didn’t have much to work with. I sent it back and got the steerburger. I got it with two sides and ordered a side salad too. The side salad was wilted lettuce, three not great looking tomatoes, a few tiny cubes of cucumber stale croutons and to make it fancy, a few warm pieces of blue cheese crumbles. It’s a side salad. They usually add a couple bucks so you don’t expect much. Imagine my surprise when I got the bill and it was $7. The mashed potatoes were adequate and the cowboy steak wasn’t horrible but it’s a hamburger with gravy on it. The gravy was crusty by the way. Once again, don’t expect much. The green beans were confused as to whether they wanted to be rubbery or soggy. It was a toss up. Just give up and get the canned stuff. At least that’s uniformly awful. The $3.99 iced tea was not up to Midwest ten year olds standards so I’m not exactly sure how it was deemed acceptable at any business in the southern part of the country. The bill was and eye watering $29.89 not including a tip. For a meal not fit for prisoners. It’s plain unacceptable. For that money I could have a good meal at just about any restaurant accessible to a truck and it wouldn’t be a gravy covered hamburger. For half that money I can go to Huddle House at any Loves and get a great meal that will be the same food quality regardless of location. After getting a tank full of water at one of your locations and eating at this place, you’re basically down to truck service for me and with the way everything else has fallen to the wayside, I don’t have high hope for that. Since I needed to show one of your techs how to remove a fuel water separator bowl at my last service I probably shouldn’t have any confidence. The condition of your buildings is beyond atrocious at this point. You are literally not giving anyone any reason at all to want to use your services anymore. That’s why your restaurants are ghost towns. What’s sad, is your prices keep going up as the quality of your services keep going down and your only on a race to the bottom with yourself. Your competition isn’t playing the same game let alone on the same field. Thats why they’re eating you alive. And it makes me sad because you used to be great.
Edit: I appreciate the reply but to suggest I should go to a website and air my grievances a second time when you guys already have the information reeks of just wanting to make it look like your acting on the problems without ever actually acting on the problems. You work for TA/Petro. Address the problem internally by forwarding the review yourself. If they need rod contact me for more info, then send me and email. Don’t waste more of my time by asking me to re-explain the problem to a person who should already have the information I...
Read moreIn response to the owners question, 5 stars would have been hard to get. 4 stars is pretty solid and I would definitely return, except that I live a couple thousand miles away. I may rate a bit differently than others. For me, 3 is good. No issues. 4 means it was very good. 5 stars is as high as it goes, so I reserve those for "best in class" experiences. I don't give those out often. In my opinion, people that rate a lot of places as 5 stars are not doing us any favors. It ends up making the ratings meaningless.
But specifically, this was a good place that we were happy to visit while we were on the road. Parking was easy and plentiful, the service was good and the food hit the spot. I would definitely return if I find myself passing through that area again. I had absolutely no complaints. I can't see a five because it just didn't knock my socks off and blow my mind and to me that's what you...
Read moreI'm not just posting this about just this particular restaurant, but about several since the owner seems to review this particular one. Do you own all Iron Skillets? If so, my only negative, which is a big one, are the buffets. They are so horribly maintained it makes me wonder why they're kept in existence here. Some do not cook the food to the point where it's almost completely raw, others leave it out so long it crusts up to the pan and becomes rock hard, others...I don't know what they're doing but I'll put it this way...have you ever had eggs that taste like urine? I assure you I am not exaggerating. I have many more examples of the lack of attention paid to these buffets, upon request I will gladly give locations and specific examples at each if you're interested. We genuinely appreciate the service attempted to be offered, but it's just not worth it. Thanks for taking the time to read...
