R&K Cafe on Santa Fe — Restaurant in Weatherford

This place came highly recommended so I was excited to finally try it. Unfortunately my experience was terrible. The service all around was very rude. The ranch dressing had lumps and when I asked about it they said it wasn’t mixed right but I’m fairly certain the dairy had curdled in it. Instead of offering a solution the server yelled at another server for the issue and walked away. I understand feeling awkward about going back to a table that’s made a complaint, but it’s your job and no reason to from then on ignore the table. When the breakfasts came out the eggs had a grey-ish color & no flavor, French toast had no flavor and was kind of crunchy for some reason, I was indifferent with the back, the sausage was a shriveled little circle patty that was VERY over cooked, and the maple syrup had a very weird film over it. I tried to flag down a server but was ignored and just gave up. Even the ketchup was a little off with its flavor. The final straw was when I went to eat the fried tomatoes… I found a long black hair cooked in the batter (for reference I’m blonde so it wasn’t my hair). I managed to eat most of it because I absolutely hate wasting food/money. The bill was $30 which isn’t expensive in general however for this quality food it was absolutely NOT worth it. Also the server dropped off the bill 5 minutes after we got the main meal. She did it so quickly I hadn’t even realized she’s stopped by. To be quite honest I hope I don’t get sick after eating this. If I could give zero stars I would. I have never left a review in my life and I work in restaurants myself, so I’m very understanding. I give this place a 4 because they have so many options!!! I previously rated them a 4 on Yelp too because their mashed potatoes are from the box or frozen, and like with other things you can just tell they take some major shortcuts. We tried this place one night. We went because I wanted breakfast and hunny wanted home cooking. Our waitress was a sweetheart. For a decent meal it was good. I had the breakfast sampler, and I was a happy girl. So I went back, and had the chicken and dressing special. The chicken was like slower cooker chicken, or boiled chicken...bland no flavor. Roast or smoke those chickies and I just might bump my review up to five stars😆 Green beans tasted straight out the can, no butter or garlic, bacon fat, or ham trimming to be seen. Come on let those babies have some love. The dressing was yummy, hit the spot for my Thanksgiving crave. But at this visit, my favorite thing hands down was their french fries!!! Amazing, yummy, fresh cut, fries! Loved those fries! They have some awesome looking desserts, but I haven't made it that far yet. Go try and tell them I sent you. This was our first visit and we loved it! We had fried pickles, fried green tomatoes and onion rings as appetizers. I had 2 glasses of pink Moscato, which was light and delicious, a long with the butterfly shrimp with fries and green beans. My husband had the patty melt and fries, and a sweet iced tea.

The food was so good! It was hot and fresh. I think the fried pickles were my favorite. I enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, and I don't even like tomatoes! The shrimp was delicious and that says a lot because I'm from Houston and grew up eating fresh caught seafood. The green beans were very tasty, I just wish the portion was larger.

The price was $10-$20 for the entree and 3 sides, which is such a great deal! We could have fed 3 or 4 people with all the food we got. There was enough left over for each of us to have another meal. With the tip, the bill was right under $80.

The service was amazing. Our waitress was the sweetest little girl. She won brownie points making sure my husband had enough ranch (he's kind of addicted to it)!
