Pricey, average fried food by the beach. For a chicken sandwich and fries, itâs over $20⊠Thatâs the âorder it somewhere elseâ price. Kind of like when you take your car in for service and they say $8k for repairs â sure, they can do it, but do they really want to? Nope.
The menu needs an overhaul. Make people want to buy from you, not walk away. You can get way better restaurant food for cheaper. I guess they survive because of their location, catching weary travelers unfamiliar with the area. Anyone local knows theyâre just pedaling mediocre meals next to the Wells Beach restroom (which they guard closely, making sure no one uses âtheirâ spots). As if it were some high-end establishment.
While ordering food, my family was awkwardly stared at for 1â2 minutes by an employee acting strangely. When I went back to the car, he gave me a long lecture about âcustomers only.â I just smiled and waited for him to finish, until he finally asked, âSo are you getting something?â I said, âWell, yes!â He doubted me and I had to show the receipt. Then he suddenly became friendly, and so was I â but seriously, open your eyes and take people at their word. I wasnât there to sneak in a bathroom break or steal one of their precious parking spots.
What more could you ask for? Oh, I know⊠Better ketchup! They have terrible ketchup, which ruins the experience. Strange how a place that charges so much cuts corners on ketchup. Just buy Heinz. Donât be that cheap establishment with the budget option â people have taste buds.
They do have ice cream, which is a bonus, but if it werenât for that, they probably wouldnât exist. The locals know better, which is why they shut down in the winter when you canât sell sweet cream...
Read moreSo let me just say I have been wanting a real Maine lobster roll for many years and for my birthday this year my wonderful husband took me to the coast to get my very fist one (by the way I'm from Missouri so we don't have real lobster rolls there.) I'm super disappointed đ„ it was over $30+ for a roll and french fries and no drink included so for the two of us he payed $73.31. In my opinion it was not worth it, it was very bland the lettuce overtook the lobster and it was a very small roll to be honest the fries tasted better. I had my hopes up for so long and now I wished he hadn't spent the money !!!! I left the restaurant hungry that's not supposed to happen, we even asked the locals afterwards if that was normal and they were all shocked at the price. I definitely don't recommend this restaurant. It actually makes me sad because I have waited so long...
Read moreWe got fish and chips, chicken nuggets and fries, and cheeseburger boxes and sodas yesterday and we were all very happy with the food. The fries, nuggets, and fish were crisp, not soggy at all and the the kids were surprised at how flavorful and crunchy the chicken was. The fish wasn't overcooked and they carry Coke products which is nice. My husband picked the food up along with our daughter and they felt the service was polite as well.
Edit: We ended up going twice the week we were in Maine, it was the best restaurant we found in the area and we were really happy with the prices, the service, and the food in comparison to the other restaurants. I liked the tartar sauce a lot and the fried clams and fish...
