This is a nice place with a good variety of drinks and well flavored, simple menu. Now, don't hold me fully to this because I have not made it through the entire menu. Do recommend the meatloaf dish, fish dinner or the chicken mashed potatoes. They are great sized and flavored at the time of writing this. Let's cover drinks. As with most of Milwaukee there are the standard series of beer and liquor, a few house made drinks, and so on. I will say they have a bit more broad beer variety than some of your small and midsized a bars in the area. How complex they are able to make a fancy non-Wisconsin drink is dependent on who is working the bar. Atmosphere: This is a pro/con depending on your perspective, the night you go, time you go, and what you are looking for. Check out their events schedule (Bingo can be fun). It does get a pretty solid customer base (50%+ capacity) through the week. Darts and games in the back area. With that crowd and the music it can get louder later into the night, but kind of ebbs and flows. The bar has about 20 seats, sometimes they pull stools due to meal orders. Four high sitting tables and a series of standard four person tables. The staff: The staff does keep an eye on you and tries to balance giving you space while making sure your drinks are full. The staff is nice and professional the multiple times I've been here. If you are not familiar with Wisconsin ways of regulars at specific bars, then realize they have built relationships with them and socialize with them more, but you show up more often you'll fall into that category. Went here on a Tuesday for tacos. The place was busy. There were 4 of us, three of us ordered food and it was FANTASTIC, I seriously can’t explain how good this food was. The shrimp tacos were fried perfectly, the fish was even better, and the chimichangas were amazing too! The only problem we had was our server. She was nice at first but flipped a switch when she came over and said “I’m assuming you guys are going split checks” we said yes. She then said “just so you guys know, next time you should say that before ordering”. I was a server previously, I would have NEVER said that to a table, I understand it can be frustrating and that was on us 100%. We gave her what we had ordered and she split it, she had gotten the orders wrong after we had told her, again, I get it. She fixed it and then all of a sudden one of us had another additional charge. Our checks had jumped from $20 to $35. We asked her why the price had changed and she said “that’s how it appears when I ring it up” we were still confused but we left it. My friend who had ordered a drink and gave her a $10 bill to cover the drink he ordered was given his change after all of this had transpired and she said “here’s your $1 back, you can keep it” WHILE SHE GAVE HIM HIS CHANGE, before a tip was even on the table. Upgrading my review. It was good but vague. I have lived close for 3 years now. I really like this place. They do a good job of having a happening vibe but also keep out a lot of the riff raff that ruin a good bar. The owners seem very nice. One of them even found my debit card in the alley. Jimmy who I believe to be the bar manager is really dedicated and you can see he loves the business and makes quasi regulars like me feel really welcome. They have the best bartenders. Maria gets it. Shes fast, witty, funny and takes really good care of people. Don't sleep on the food. Its upper tier pub food. Good wing flavors and I keep telling my friends the burger is one of the more underrated ones in the milwaukee area. IF I had lived here in my 20s I would be in this bar every night. ALSO The soups are way better than you would expect. They do bookings for events and usually over deliver what I expect from a bar.
