I want this place to succeed. I think itās got most of the ingredients to be a good thing. That being said, here are my thoughtsā¦
First time we did carry out. Pros: We enjoyed both of our burgers (the Frenchie & the G Thing). They were still hot and the fries were delish. Unique flavors, good size portions.
Con: the pickle chips batter was too thick and most were stuck together in big globs.
Second time was sit down. Pros: Again, we enjoyed the burgers (build your own & G Thing). I like the concept of the 80ās/90ās theme throughout, as well as, the games. Butā¦
Cons: we were not greeted for awhile and when we were it was just blah. We had to wait for maybe 15 minutes, but thatās to be expected for a Saturday night. In the meantime, my husband and daughter played some games. There have been other reviews mentioning how some machines are not working and itās unclear whether that particular game takes coins, tokens or bills. This is true, but maybe the owner is going to get around to that. Server never introduced herself or went over any specials. Had to ask twice for water. She was definitely busy, so I understand that, but good service is a HUGE draw. The On-Yah onion petal appetizer has potential. Going back to the batter being too thick like the pickles and maybe need to be fried a little longer. The sauce was delish. Took a LONG time for those to come. Music is loud, but tolerable. Tried to play songs on the Touch Tunes, but the volume was set low. We asked to have it turned up like the music that was playing, but that never happened so we saved our credits.
I will say my biggest issue is that, to me, it feels dirty. From the menus to the floor, to the fruit garnishes on drinks and screens on the games. As two former servers, we would like to see better (friendly, faster) service, tiny change to batter on the apps and a cleaner...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreA ānewā arcade bar/restaurant in town. We wanted to try it so we went tonight. Atmosphere is fun, and nostalgic for sure, but the arcade selection leaves some to be desired. While it does have classics like asteroid and missile command, it doesnāt have the best arcade of all time⦠The Simpsons! Pinball machines are 2 dollars per play, which is wild. The biggest party foul though was the shuffle board table is not level. The puck rolled backwards after it stopped a few times. Definitely needs to be addressed.
The service was excellent. Couldnāt have asked for a better server.
A few notes about the menu. It doesnāt list the burger size, and the server didnāt know. I know theyāre smash burgers, but am I getting 1/3lb, 1/2lb, 1/4lb? For 15-17 bucks for a burger and fries (which imo is pretty pricey for smash burgers) Iād like to know how much meat Iām paying for. Also, if you have a special sauce on the menu, it would be wise to describe what the sauce is. Iām speaking about the Atari sauce. Maybe Iām being nitpicky, but the menu item names and some of the words come off as trying too hard to be unique. āCarmo onionsā cāmon now.
The food itself was alright. The queso on my burger was quite salty, and the two patties together barely seemed like a 1/3lb, very small, and for 17 bucks thatās kind of ridiculous. Another thing would be to add a burger that has some spice to it. I didnāt see anything that was spicy.
I gave this an overall 4 stars because the service was great, but I think the food is lacking. Would probably rate it an overall 3 out of 5 if we had bad service. We might come back after a bit and see if anything has changed, but Iām not going to be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have really mixed feelings about my visit toĀ Game OverĀ in West Bend, WI.
First impression upon walking in was great ā the place looked fun, with games everywhere and a lively atmosphere. The bartenders were friendly, and even though we arrived right during a shift change, our drinks came out quickly.
I started with theĀ Princess PeachĀ cocktail (dragonberry rum, pineapple rum, lime juice, cranberry juice, and club soda). There was nothing wrong with the drink itself ā it just wasnāt my taste, so I switched to my usual after one.
For food, I ordered theĀ Garlic Bread Patty MeltĀ with aĀ black bean pattyĀ instead of beef (their menu says you can substitute chicken or a black bean patty for any burger). Unfortunately, when my order came out, it was the regular beef patty, which I donāt eat. Mistakes happen, so I let the bartender know. She was very apologetic and had the kitchen fix it.
The second attempt came out quickly, but it was just the black bean patty by itself ā not the full sandwich. So, back it went again. Third time was the charm ā the sandwich finally came out right, and it was decent.
Overall, the staff was kind and apologetic, and I could tell they were trying. But the repeated mix-ups made the experience less enjoyable. Iād give it another try in the future, hoping for a smoother...
