Lived in West Bend most of my life. For a long time, you used to be able to come here, bring the kids, have a picnic and hang out all day, into the evening for a few dollars per kid. The wide open pond and raft were sufficient. Nobody ever complained about not having enough fun. Nobody ever asked for the equivalent of a small waterpark with steep prices at incremental packages.
Now? There is hardly any surface area on the pond because they filled it with unnecessary inflatables, trying to make a mini-Noah's Ark out of the place. Besides being an eye-soar, they also installed a RIDICULOUS pay system where you have to buy multiple passes for each two-hour block to play on the inflatables. Even worse, the "regular" part of the pond (small area with no inflatables) costs an additional 4 dollars. So, to bring a family of say, 3 or 4 kids for a day (6 hours) be ready to slap between $84 and $112 dollars on their bathhouse counter, depending on what "package" you choose from their convoluted mess of a system, if you want your kids to be able to play in the whole pond. Note that the total doesn't include if you as the parents want to swim- and this is a CITY PARK!!. This is an insultingly, huge gouging difference compared to the tradition of this park where a short time ago a single ticket was about 4 dollars for the entire day.
I will also point out that the inflatable rafts are dangerous. There is no safety fence beneath so, in theory, kids could try swimming under the rafts, out of sight. Not a coincidence that they now also make you sign a waiver to swim there. When asked to one of the city "officials" over the phone, she replied with, "well we have lifeguards watching." They have had lifeguards watching for decades, and still 2 children have died at this park from drowning in the last ten years- you would think they would strive to make the place safer, not more dangerous.
Regner Park- arguably the only "hidden gem" in West Bend you could get away to and it wouldn't break the bank...and they...

There is a beautiful stream, several trails in the woods, a volleyball area, batting cages & tennis courts, a flower Memorial Garden, 2 baseball diamonds, and a newly remodeled Pavilion area with band stage. They are now using this Park for a lot of local events. Often they have movies, bands, and charity events going on. Even around Christmas time they open the park up for a charity group, which decorates the entire park with Christmas lights and decorations for you to drive through in your car. It's really nice and I have to say once again it is one of the best parks...
Read moreVery good place to take your kids. They have a splash pad for the small children. In addition they have a natural spring-fed pond with a beach surrounding the entire pond. There are lifeguards on the patrol by the pond. Bring a few single dollars as there is a wristband requirement for the pond use and splash pad. Overall this park is a wonderful place to take your kids during the summer. The park itself is absolutely beautiful with a winding River, nearby baseball diamonds tennis courts splash pad Lake for swimming a playground. many times during the summer they will be events being held here. There's a small stage for bands an additional small village where touring events food is sold. I would highly recommend taking your...
